Sullivan High School Girls Track Finishes 2nd at Quad Meet

SHS Girls Track finished in 2nd place with 157 points on Tuesday, April 4 in Shelbyville at their quad meet against Central A & M, Shelbyville, and St. Teresa. As it was a beautiful night for a meet, Sullivan had several girls set career PR’s and scored points in 13/18 events. Top 3 finishers are listed below.
Long Jump- 1. Short 18’0”
Triple Jump-1. Hay 31’11”
High Jump- 1. Kelly 4’8”, 2. Miller 4’4”
Pole Vault- 3. Nuzzo 8’6”

SHS Girls Track Competes at Shelbyville Open

SHS Girls Track finished in 8th place with 39 points at the 15 team Shelbyville Open on Friday Morning. The 4 x 1 and 4 x 2 relay teams of Madalyn Booker, Cassidy Short, Alaina Moore, and Jalexis Bennett finished first in both events with times of 51.9 and 1:50.4. Short also won the long jump with a 16’11” leap. SHS Track teams host the Tri- County next Tuesday, April 18th. Below are point scorers from Shelbyville.

Sullivan Quad Meet Results from March 28

The Sullivan Girls and Boys Track teams competed in the Sullivan Quad Meet on Tuesday, March 28. The girls team came in third overall with 62 points overtaking Effingham (St. Anthony) who had 58. Coming in first was Cerro Gordo with 75 points and Tuscola in second with 69 points. The boys team came in first with 104 points, followed by Tuscola in second with 93 points, Effingham (St. Anthony) with 53 and Cerro Gordo with 19 points.
In girls shot put Sullivan’s Ruby Haegen came in third with 9.09 m throw. Zoe Conlin came in ninth with a 7.29 m throw, Gabrielle Penberthy came in tenth with 7.07 m, Shanice Brant with a throw of 5.91 m took thirteenth and Kya Allen with 5.34 m in 16th place.
In the girls discus throw Ruby Haegen came in third with a 23.97 m throw. Claire Welch placed sixth with 19.51 m and Shanice Brant at 16.43 m throws. Zoe Conlin came in 12th with 10.27 m throw. Read More

Moore Signs with Eureka College
Alaina Moore (right) signed her letter of intent to play basketball at Eureka College next fall on Wednesday, March 22. She is pictured with her mother Jamie Moore. Alaina is grateful for her time spent with the Sullivan Lady Redskins, the Fusion Basketball Family, along with her Skyice Family. “Coach Dubb, my SkyIce basketball coach, passed away in July 2020. He had a huge impact on my life and my basketball game,” Alaina said.

Sullivan Blue Dolphins Finish Out Run of Championship Meets

Sullivan Blue Dolphins finished out a busy four week run of Championship meets with three weeks of top swim meets. They started the run of meets with the Senior State Championship meet for 15 and over swimmers in Westmont, Illinois at the FMC Natatorium. Representing at the meet were Madalyn Booker, Emily Crosier, Ethan Schmohe, Liam Donovan and Isaac Chambers. Booker qualified to swim the 100 breaststroke, 100 butterfly, 200 IM and 200 breaststroke. Finishing 22nd in the 100 breaststroke. Chambers competed in the 100 breaststroke. Crosier swam the 400 IM and 100 backstroke, qualified in the open division at age 14. Donovan swam the 200 backstroke. Schmohe qualified with a full load of events swimming the 100 butterfly (21st), 50 freestyle (25th), 100 backstroke (9th) 400 IM, 200 backstroke and 100 freestyle. Smith Signs with Eureka College
Chloe Smith signed her national letter of intent to play softball and basketball at Eureka College next year. Some of her accomplishments include the softball Offensive Award, Redskin Award basketball. She is also involved in or has been involved in Spanish Club, Volleyball, Basketball, Softball, FCA, a member of the NHS, Student Council, Art Club, Book Club, FFA all while being a High Honor Roll student. Two girls basketball players from Sullivan have been named to the CIC Girls Basketball All Conference team. Izabelle Hay, a senior. was named to the second team and Addison Minor, a sophomore, was named to honorable mention list.

Sullivan Blue Dolphins kicked off a four week run of Championship meets the weekend of February 24th at the Regional Championship meet in Springfield. Fourteen swimmers started off the Championship season competing in 68 individual events at the Regional meet. Top 8 in each event make it to the podium. The Blue Dolphins went to the podium 51 times and of those 51 times 25 were with top 1-3 finishes.
Results by swimmer:
Bryce Badman, 10 and under division finished 1st in the 100 backstroke, 2nd 50 backstroke, 3rd 500 freestyle and 5th in 200 freestyle.
Tyler Blickensderfer 10 and under division finished 4th in the 100 breaststroke, 200IM, 5th 50 breaststroke, 6th 100 backstroke, 8th 500 freestyle
Isaac Chambers Open division 1st 200IM, 3rd 200 breaststroke, 5th 100 butterfly
