The Millikin women’s basketball team picked up two more wins last week to improve to 15-3 overall and 8-0 and in first place in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW).

Senior Madalyn Booker, signed to swim for Southern Illinois University Carbondale on January 19, 2023. Booker has swam for ten years with the Sullivan Blue Dolphins achieving many accomplishments through the years. This High School Season she took first in the 100 butterfly at sectionals, qualifying for state. Head Coach Jason Drury said qualifying and competing at the Championship level meets for USA Swimming and IHSA meets has set her up to be ready for the college level competitions. Drury said all of Booker’s success didn’t happen overnight; it was years of hard work and dedication that has gotten her where she is. She has earned all the success she has. He looks forward to watching her college career.

Sullivan Blue Dolphins competed at the Seth Dunscomb New Year Opener meet in Decatur January 6 through 8. The group picture represents part of the 51 swimmers who competed and helped to bring home the 1st place team trophy.

Lady Redskins Fall to Central A&M

Sullivan fell behind 7-17 after the first quarter and even a strong scoring output in the fourth could not bring them back as they fell 53-40 to Central A&M Monday night.
Izabelle Hay paced the Lady Redskins with 14 points, Alaina Moore was right behind with nine, Addison Minor added six and Shae Ellis rounded out the scoring with two. Isabelle Stone had six steals on the night and Minor added eight rebounds.
Sullivan takes on Okaw Valley Thursday night at home.
Lady Redskins Fall to Eagles

The Sullivan Lady Redskins just did not seem ready to play in their first home basketball game against Newton Monday night. The Eagles took a comfortable 24-12 first half lead and held on for the 36-25 victory.
Addison Minor led Sullivan with eight points, followed by Isabelle Hay with seven and Chloe Smith with four. Emily Miller and Shae Ellis each added three points, Ellis also led the team with ten rebounds.
Newton also took the JV game 23-21. The next game will be Thursday at Clinton.

Brownlee Signs with Lincoln Land Community College
Anabella Brownlee signed her national letter of intent for Lincoln Land Community College on Thursday, November 10. She plays travel softball for the Mattoon Cobra Fastpitch Softball team. Her softball career accomplishments include CIC All Conference Honorable Mention, Decatur Herald and Review All Area Honorable Mention, Offensive award her Junior season and a recipient of the Joe Marks award. As a junior her batting average was .367 with a .404 on base percentage, 28 runs scored, 36 hits and 25 rbi’s. She is the daughter of Josh and Valerie Brownlee.
