The Millikin women’s basketball team turned in an outstanding defensive effort defeating Carthage College 62-42 on January 15 at the Griswold Center. The victory improved Millikin to 13-3 overall and 7-0 and in first place in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW).
The Big Blue held Carthage to one free throw in the first quarter jumping out to a 21-1 advantage. It was almost three minutes into the second quarter before the Firebirds scored its first field goal. Millikin lead 37-11 at halftime. Carthage was held to 4-22 from the field in the first half. Lady Redskins Prevail
The Sullivan Lady Redskins defeated North Clay in a C.I.C. vs N.T.C. Conference Clash Game Saturday night and came out on the winning side. After a slow start and a 22-18 halftime deficit, Sullivan came out strong in the second half to pull out the 50-42 victory with a great team effort.
Alaina Moore led all scorers with 16 on the night and also led the Lady Redskins with eight boards. Izzy Hay had eight points to go with her three steals, Emily Miller also scored eight and Shae Ellis and Kiley Dyer each chipped in six. Rounding out the scoring in the victory were Chloe Smith, Skyla Palmer and Bella Harden with two each. Read More

Alexis Swaim was recently named Sullivan High School’s Athlete of the Month for November. She was nominated by her cheer coach, Mrs. Earl. Per Mrs. Earl “Alexis leads by example. She is always willing to do what needs to be done, and teach those who are struggling. Alexis is willing to try new things and actively looks for ways to improve herself and her squad. She handles conflict with grace, and carries herself with poise and dignity.” Alexis received a certificate and $20 in Sullivan “Chamber Bucks” that can be used at local businesses.

Sullivan Varsity Boys Basketball lost to Okaw Valley last Tuesday. The final score was OV 50 and Sullivan 24. Last Friday, Sullivan lost to Neoga in an away game. The final score was Neoga 41, Sullivan 38. On Saturday, Sullivan had a victory over Heritage 53-32.

Sullivan Blue Dolphins participated in a home meet on November 13. The high point winners were as follows: In the open division for the girls: 1st Madalyn Booker, 2nd MacKenzie Erixon, 3rd Lilly Graham. In the open division for the boys: 1st Ethan Schmohe, 2nd Matthew Wesselman & Isaac Chambers, 3rd Miles Kersten. On Thursday, December 2 the Sullivan 8th Grade Girls’ Basketball team won the Class 3A Regional Championship. They will advance to sectionals on Wednesday, today, in Robinson, against Marshall at 6:30 pm. If they win they will advance to state. Lady Timberwolves Split games at Thanksgiving Tourney

The Okaw Valley girls fell to Williamsville last Friday during the Pana Thanksgiving Tournament 42-29 before bouncing back Saturday. Saturday afternoon they scored a close victory over Central A&M 44-40.
Against Williamsville, Mia Harris scored seven of her team leading ten in the fourth quarter. Bailey Bennett and Rissa Montgomery each added seven, Madison Whitney drained a three and Megan Roley rounded out the scoring with two.
In the win Saturday against Central A&M, three scored in triple digits. Bennett led the team with 14, Harris had 12 and Montgomery 11. Roley contributed five points in the win including one of the teams four three pointers and Reagan Reedy had a basket in the fourth quarter.
The girls are now 3-5 on the season and hosted St. Anthony Monday night.
Timberwolves Fall to Central A&M

The Okaw Valley girls basketball team traveled to the Pana Turkey Tournament last Friday to take on Central A&M. The Timberwolves were unable to overcome a low scoring first half and fell 45-41. Junior Bailey Bennett led the team wi 17 points, Senior Mia Harris knocked down a couple three pointers on her way to ten points and Lexi Bartimus, a Junior, chipped in seven. Rounding out the scoring were Sophomore Rissa Montgomery with six and Junior Reagan Reedy with a made free throw..
