Sullivan Girls Place at Invitational Meet

The Sullivan girls’ track and field team placed seventh with 29 points in the 20-team Monticello Girls’ Invitational on Friday.
“We continue to see new personal records achieved each meet as we prepare for conference later this week,” said coach Kali Taylor.
Esther Miller took first in the triple jump at 34 feet 6 inches and second place in the 40-meter dash with a time of 1:02.35.
Emily White cleared 4 feet 10 inches in the high jump to finish in fourth, and Zoe Walton cleared 4 feet 8 inches for fifth place.
Katherine Kite placed sixth in the 1,600-meter run with a time of 5:49, and the Redskins’ 1,600-meter relay team of Natalie Drury, Josie Orris, White and Miller took fourth place with a time of 4:27.79. Read More
Conference Record and NCAA All-American Honors for Sullivan Swimmer

Brynna Sentel finished out her sophomore on the Franklin women’s swimming and diving team competing in the NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving National Championships in Greensboro, NC, March 20-23.
Sentel, a Sullivan High School graduate, placed 12th in the 100 backstroke with a time of 56.27.
The time was a personal best, a Franklin school record and Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) record.
She was ranked 36th in going in, and after prelims she was in 15th place. Read More
Sullivan Baseball Hits a Four Game Winning Streak

Sullivan baseball lost to Maroa-Forsyth last Tuesday, then went on a four-game winning streak against Clinton, Central A&M, Okaw Valley and Clinton again.
Monday evening in Sullivan the Redskins defeated Clinton for the second time in five days.
Sullivan jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning and tacked on another run in the third for a 4-0 lead.
Clinton scored one run in the fifth inning, but the Redskins rallied for six runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to take a 10-1 lead.
Clinton battled back with seven runs in the seventh inning but could not plate the tying runs in the 10-8 loss.
Sullivan recorded only three hits but drew eight walks including Drew Rogers who walked three times and scored three times.
Dalton Rogers recorded three RBIs and scored a run, and Leman Jones doubled in three runs.
At home against Okaw Valley Saturday, Sullivan’s Spencer Johnson pitched a two-hit shutout to help the Redskins to a 2-0 win.

Michael Patterson placed seventh in the discus with a personal-best throw of 124 feet 2 inches, and Caleb Hildebrandt placed 17th in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 48.99. Read More

The Sullivan girls’ track and field team won the Tri-County Invitational at Sullivan High School last Tuesday and placed third in the Tuscola Open Saturday.
In the Tri-County Invite, Sullivan scored 126 points, which was eight points better than second-place Shelbyville.

Sullivan Boys’ Track Places Fourth at Tri-County

The Sullivan boys’ track and field team placed fourth in the Tri-County Invitational at Sullivan High School last Tuesday.
The boys’ team set a total of 16 new personal records and two first-place finishers.
Leighton Burcham long jumped 19 feet 11 inches for first place and took third in the triple jump at 37 feet 9.5 inches.
Jadon Nuzzo pole vaulted 15 feet for first place, and Brodie Goss took second place in the 300-meter hurdles at 42.86 and fourth in the 11-meter hurdles with a time of 18.03. Read More
Redskins Baseball Bounces Back to Defeat Hawks

The Sullivan baseball team dropped three straight games before defeating Meridian Monday.
The Redskins lost to Warrensburg-Latham 6-5 Friday, Shelbyville 8-2 last Wednesday and Warrensburg-Latham again 5-2 last Tuesday.
Monday against Meridian, Redskins Tim Lawyer had two hits, and Ian Hill knocked in a run to help Sullivan to a 2-0 win.
Spencer Johnson pitched five innings and struck out 12, and Dalton Rogers pitched two innings and struck out two for the win.
Against Warrensburg-Latham Friday, Dalton Rogers recorded two hits and two RBIs, but WL walked it off on the bottom of the seventh inning for the 6-5 win. Read More

The Sullivan softball team dropped four straight games last week.
The Redskins lost to Meridian 15-2 Monday, Warrensburg-Latham 14-1 Friday, Shelbyville 8-7 last Wednesday and Warrensburg-Latham again 10-0 last Tuesday.

Strong Pitching, Hard Hitting for ALAH Softball Wins

After the Arthur-Lovington-Atwood-Hammond softball team won three straight games, Knight pitcher Mackenzie Brown no-hit Okaw Valley in an 8-0 Little Okaw Valley Conference win Monday night.
In seven innings, Brown walked two and struck out 17.
ALAH scored two runs in the second inning, a run in the third and five runs in the fourth inning for the 8-0 win.
Shelby Frederick was 2-for-4 with a run scored and one RBI, and Kauffman was 2-for-3 with three RBIs and a run scored.
Brown, Reagan Miller and Addi Tinkle each recorded a hit. Brown scored two runs, and Tinkle and Miller each knocked in a run.
Timberwolves’ pitcher Grace Bunfill suffered the loss, pitching six innings and giving up six earned runs on seven hits and four walks. She struck out nine.
Saturday ALAH swept a double header at LeRoy.
The Knights knocked off Havana 17-0 and LeRoy 8-0. Read More
