Strong Pitching, Hard Hitting for ALAH Softball Wins

After the Arthur-Lovington-Atwood-Hammond softball team won three straight games, Knight pitcher Mackenzie Brown no-hit Okaw Valley in an 8-0 Little Okaw Valley Conference win Monday night.
In seven innings, Brown walked two and struck out 17.
ALAH scored two runs in the second inning, a run in the third and five runs in the fourth inning for the 8-0 win.
Shelby Frederick was 2-for-4 with a run scored and one RBI, and Kauffman was 2-for-3 with three RBIs and a run scored.
Brown, Reagan Miller and Addi Tinkle each recorded a hit. Brown scored two runs, and Tinkle and Miller each knocked in a run.
Timberwolves’ pitcher Grace Bunfill suffered the loss, pitching six innings and giving up six earned runs on seven hits and four walks. She struck out nine.
Saturday ALAH swept a double header at LeRoy.
The Knights knocked off Havana 17-0 and LeRoy 8-0. Read More

Timberwolves freshman Damien Coney ran the 3,200 meters in 12:59 at the Cumberland Pirate Invite to become the new freshmen/sophomore OV school record holder. Previous record was 13:12.

Two Win Week for Timberwolves Baseball Team

The Okaw Valley baseball team picked up two more wins this past week to improve to 8-4 overall and 4-0 Little Okaw Valley Conference record.
The Timberwolves shutout Arthur-Lovington-Atwood-Hammond 4-0 Monday and throttled Arcola 18-1 last Tuesday.
Against the Knights Monday, OV scored first in the top of the fourth inning to take a 2-0 lead, but ALAH answered when Dario Ayala homered in the bottom of the fourth.
In the sixth inning the Timberwolves plated two more runs then held on for the win.
For OV, Cameron Sharp was 3-for-3 with two RBIs and stolen base, and Dalton McGill was 3-for-3 with two runs scored, one RBI and a stolen base.
Sam Hagerman was 2-for-2 with two runs scored, and Eli Hagerman, Camden Coleman, Cale Roley and Talon Russell each recorded a hit. Read More

WSS Shut Out Two More

The Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg softball team shut out two more teams to stay undefeated on the year at 25-0-1.
Monday night, Megan Schlechte pitched a no-hitter and hit a grand slam to help the Hatchets shutout St. Elmo/Brownstown 15-0.
In the second inning, the Hatchets score 12 runs to blow the game open.
Schlechte finished with two hits, two walks, five RBIs and two runs scored, and in the circle she walked one and struck out six in four innings. Read More

OVHS Softball Faced a Week of Strong Hitting Teams

The Okaw Valley softball team dropped four straight games this past week.
The Timberwolves lost to Arthur-Lovington-Atwood-Hammond Monday, Westville Saturday, Fisher Saturday and Arcola last Tuesday.
In the first game of the doubleheader Saturday, OV lost to Fisher 16-1, after scoring its lone run in the first inning.
Grace Bunfill was 2-for-3 and Bella Benning was 1-for-2 with a run scored.
Madison Vogel suffered the loss. She pitched 3 1/3 innings and gave up nine earned runs on 11 hits and six walks. She struck out five.
In the second game of the doubleheader, Westville plated the winning run in the top of the seventh inning for the 3-2 victory.
Vogel homered for one of the Timberwolves’ runs, and Kate Jeffers doubled twice and scored the other OV run. Read More

Redskins Baseball Team Defeats Central A&M

The Sullivan baseball team defeated Central A&M but lost to Altamont and St. Teresa this past week.
Against St. Teresa Friday, a pitchers’ duel put the Redskins ahead 1-0 heading into the bottom of the seventh inning when the Bulldogs plated three runs for the eventual 3-1 win.
For Sullivan, Dalton Rogers pitched six innings in the loss. He gave up two earned runs on five hits and two walks. He struck out 10.
Kanin Elder was 2-for-3 with a run scored, and Tim Lawyer, Austin Scott and Colin Wickiser each had a hit.
Scott knocked in the Redskins’ lone run.
Last Tuesday, the Redskins pounded CAM 16-0. Read More

Twin Meet Week for Sullivan Girls’ Track Team

The Sullivan girls’ track and field team competed in two meets this past week.
The Redskins placed tenth in the Unity Girls Invite at Tolono Friday and second in a quadrangular at Warrensburg last Tuesday.
Sullivan placed tenth out of 20 teams with 19.5 points in the Unity Girls Invite.
Three Redskins scored points.
Esther Miller triple jumped 34 feet 4.5 inches to take first place, and she ran the 400 meters in 1:03 for fourth place.
In the high jump, Zoe Walton took fourth with a leap of five feet, and Emily White placed fifth at 4 feet 10 inches.
Last Tuesday, Sullivan finished second with 78 points in a quadrangular at Warrensburg.
Several Sullivan athletes scored points, including six first-place finishers. Read More

The Arthur-Lovington-Atwood-Hammond softball team defeated Neoga, Arcola and Cerro Gordo/Bement but lost to Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg this past week.
Against Neoga last Tuesday, Addi Tinkle hit a 3-run homer in the fifth inning to help the Knights win 7-6.
Tinkle finished with five RBIs, and Marissa Herschberger recorded three hits, a walk and two runs scored.

Sullivan Softball Team Takes St. Teresa Bulldogs

The Sullivan softball team knocked off St. Teresa but lost to Central A&M this past week.
Friday against the Bulldogs, Sullivan plated five runs in the fourth inning and five runs in the fifth to extend its lead to 10-4.
St. Teresa scored two in the bottom of the fifth, but the Redskins answered with four runs in the top of the sixth inning for the 16-6 win.
Destiny Mills recorded four hits and six RBIs, and Irie Dulin totaled four hits and four RBIs. Read More

OV Boys’ Track Team Places at Cumberland Meet

The Okaw Valley boys’ track and field team placed third out of five teams in a meet at Cumberland last Tuesday.
Marshall scored 149, Casey-Westfield 78, Cumberland 37 and Oblong 12.
Several Timberwolves scored points.
Luke Vander Burgh long jumped 16 feet 1 inches for second place and took third in the 200-meter dash at 25.73.
Parker Perrine placed second in the 1,600-meter run with a time of 5:14.87, and Eric Boomer placed third in the long jump at 16 feet 7 inches. Read More
