Sullivan Alumni Celebrate 47
•September 14, 2016•
Sullivan group meets here to celebrate 47 years of Sullivan alumni friendships.
Many past attendees and graduates of Sullivan schools from all over the country will gather in Sullivan Oct. 8 to celebrate the 47th annual alumni dinner and the friendships that developed by attending and graduating from Sullivan schools.
Designed to work together with Sullivan homecoming activities, the dinner and celebration will be held at 4:30 p.m. Oct. 8 at Sullivan VFW.
Sponsored by the Sullivan Alumni Association, the association’s president Jeani Taylor said “the group’s constant goal is to nurture and grow friendships and memories each year by bringing attendees and graduates back together to maintain those lifelong ties.”
This year’s dinner and celebration will also pay tribute to the late J. Harold Jones, a Sullivan math teach who was named Illinois “Teacher of the Year” in 1964 and was also voted at last year’s alumni meeting as “a favorite memorable teacher”. Robert Priddy, a 1959 graduate and well-know historian, humorist and broadcaster, will be master of ceremonies. Ted Walk, principal of Sullivan Middle School, will update the attendees on the current status of Sullivan schools.
Dress will be casual. A social hour is scheduled, and the dinner/program will start at approximately 5:30. Seating is limited, but some tickets for Sullivan attendees, graduates and their spouses are still available and may be purchased by calling Taylor at 728-7896 (jlhight@Yahoo.com) or Barbara Kirk at 797-6467 (Bkirk25@Hotmail.com).
