The Sullivan/Okaw Valley football team looked poised to win its first game in more than three years, but a late comeback by Shelbyville spoiled the Redskins plans in a hard fought game at Shelbyville Friday.
SOV scored first in the first period. On fourth-down and ten yards to go, Ian Plank lined up as running back and ran a wheel route up the left sideline. Quarterback Luke Vander Burgh lofted a fade pass for a 15-yard touchdown connection.
Plank kicked the point after for a 7-0 lead.
Shelbyville scored the next ten points to take a 10-7 lead in the first quarter.
SOV drove the ball down to the Rams three-yard line to end the first quarter.
On the first play of the second quarter, SOV retook the lead when Vander Burgh rolled out to his right and under pressure hit Plank running a flat route for the touchdown.
