Sullivan’s annual Dash & Bash becomes another staple of summer fun

Since 2017, Sullivan has been actively planning and producing the annual Bash and Bash. The Dash and Bash is a family friendly day long event in Sullivan where fun is in the name. The event started bright and early at seven for the 5k run/walk registration for the race, which started just an hour later at eight. Closer to ten the car show registration opened and just thirty minutes later the Legion had a tent set up outside where food was served, lemonade shakeups were also opening at the same time. By this time it is 11, getting closer to lunch and with more people arriving another guest food option arrived. Pretzels from a pre-order pick-up were now available to be picked up inside the Legion. The afternoon was overall the best part of the whole day. Once it stuck noon, the beer tent was opened and DJ Iceman provided some of the crowds favorite music. The Duck Derby had a great go, there was a bit of a rough start with some wind issues and the ducks not wanting to all leave the designated area on launch. On the Sullivan Dash and Bash facebook page there is a past live video of the duck derby that happened on Saturday.

Several inflatables were available for the kids to enjoy during the event.

This is also when the kids entertainment was opened, there were about five to six different option of inflatables, some being more race oriented while others were larger slides. “There is so many to choose from I just don’t know what I even want to get on first”, one attendee exclaimed upon seeing the inflatables, “I just have to try them all”. Fans of live music and entertainment, there was more. Magicians and clowns appeared on site for entertainment of all ages, while some live music options appeared for the adults.

Later in the day the beer tent fully opened to the live music portion which included The Band Hellen Keller and the Feudin’ Hillbilly’s, live music ended at 11pm. After all these years of continuing the yearly tradition of the Dash and Bash, this one will once again go down in the books as another great year, the weather was fantastic, the events included were for all ages and most of all it brought the community together to have fun where all can be included. Looking forward to next year and what the community and what Sullivan will do to make it just as memorable as this year.
