On Saturday June 25, 36 Taekwondo students of Master Kevin Roberts competed in the KTA Mid Illinois Taekwondo Invitational.
The students competed against others from Illinois, Indiana and Missouri.
Thirty-one students of Master Roberts ranked in the top levels which qualified them to compete in the National Grand Championship held in Bossier City Louisiana, and at least four plan to attend to compete for a national title.
A total of 102 medals and trophies were won by the team, with five of the Grand Champion six inch trophies from the Mid-Illinois tournament captured by students of Master Roberts.
Paul Olmstead of Neoga won Grand Champion in Adult Breaking, Kyle Meyer of Mattoon won Grand Champion in Youth Breaking, Logan Corrie of Windsor won the Grand Champion in Kids Forms, Aaron Gullion of Charleston won Grand Champion in Adult Forms, and Brett Matusas of Neoga won Grand Champion in Kids Breaking.
