The Central A&M class 1A regional seedings were released Friday, and Okaw Valley immediately threw a wrench into the standings. Decatur LSA, who will be the one seed in the upcoming tournament, must have been confused as the three seeded Timberwolves looked the better squad. Peyton Hagerman scored a game high 27 points, and Devon Still added a double-double with 25 points on 10 rebounds in front of a capacity crowd.
And Timberwolves head coach Tony Sparks thought his team fed off the crowd’s energy early on.
“The regional seeding came out today. LSA was the one seed, and we got the three so the crowd was pumped. We are trying to peak at the right time of the year, and we played well tonight.”
Okaw Valley jumped all over the Lions from the opening tip surging to an 11-0 lead on baskets by Still and two early 3-pointers from Dylan Park.
