Upcoming Blood Drives
There will be three opportunities in Moultrie County to donate blood in the next two weeks.
The Sullivan American Legion Post 68 and American Red Cross will host a blood drive 11:45 a.m-6 p.m. May 13 at the American Legion in Sullivan.
For an appointment, call Jeri Davis at 273-9456. Walk-ins are welcome, but appointments ensure proper staff is available.
A blood drive sponsored by the Okaw Valley High School student council will also be held 10 a.m-2 p.m. Friday, May 9 in the Okaw Valley High School gym in Bethany.
Any healthy individual, age 17 through 75 and weighing at least 110 pounds may donate blood. Donors should eat a moderate meal before donating and must bring identification showing a signature. Donors do not need a social security number with Community Blood Services. All blood types are needed, especially Types 0- and 0+.

Lastly, a blood drive will be held at the IGA in Sullivan 3-6 p.m. Thursday, May 15.
Donors with appointments will have priority. To schedule an appointment, call the blood center at 367-2202 or visit www.bloodcenterimpact.org.
Participants are asked to eat before donating, to drink extra water, and to bring his or her ID. Eligble donors will have last donated blood on or before March 20 of this year. The group sponsor code for this blood drive is 70870.
In addition to the blood drive, the Moultrie County Health Department will do blood pressure checks and have information on car seats, poison control, and other services they offer.
