Vote by Mail Ballots Being Mailed

For Voters who has applied for a Vote By Mail Ballot, those ballots will be mailed out beginning September 24, 2020 for the November 3, 2020 General Election. Voters should make sure that their name and address is what appears on the envelope before opening. If there is a discrepancy, call the Clerk’s office at 728-4389 for instructions on how to proceed.
England stated that it is very important that Voters be certain to follow instructions on their Vote By Mail packet before returning it. After the ballot is voted, the ballot is folded and placed in a Certification Ballot Envelope. The Certification on the back of that envelope MUST be completed, signed and dated. The Certification Ballot Envelope will then be placed in the Official Vote By Mail Balloting Material-First Class Mail envelope, postage affixed and mailed to the Clerk’s office, OR, a person can hand-deliver their Official Vote By Mail envelope containing the Certification Envelope/Ballot to the Courthouse. For the Voter’s convenience there is a drop box on the first floor near the security guards or ballot envelopes may be delivered directly to the County Clerk’s office. Ballots MUST be in the proper envelopes. All mailed ballots MUST be postmarked on or before November 3, 2020, and all dropped off ballots MUST be dropped off on or before 7:00 p.m. on November 3, 2020.
The County Clerk’s office is open weekdays 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with additional hours of business on Wednesdays October 21 and October 28, 8:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Saturdays October 24 and October 31, 9:00 a.m. to 12 noon. England said that due to Covid-19 many Voters are looking at alternative methods to vote to avoid going to the polls on Election Day; Voting By Mail or Early Voting are the solutions. For those Voting By Mail, the last day the Clerk can mail out a ballot is October 29 and it is pertinent that ballots be completed and returned on a timely basis. For Voters wanting to Early Vote, voting in the Clerk’s office begins on September 24.
