The Illinois Amish Heritage Center invites the public to a one-of-a-kind experience that blends education, equine demonstrations, and Amish heritage. “All About Horses” will take place on Saturday, July 19, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and is designed to showcase the incredible role horses have played, and continue to play in our communities, culture, and health.

“The mission of the Illinois Amish Heritage Center is to provide education through immersive experiences,” said David King, Executive Director of the IAHC. “This event delivers just that - an opportunity for all ages to learn about the deep connection between horses and humans, and the many ways they continue to shape our world today.”

Lake Land College will be hosting two Fast Track to Fall registration events this summer to help students get ready for the start of the Fall 2025 semester. The events will serve as one-stop shops for students to enroll at the college, register for classes, and apply for scholarships. Lake Land College staff members from Admissions, Counseling, and Financial Aid will be present to answer questions and guide students through the onboarding process.

The Illinois Department of Revenue (IDOR) is reminding taxpayers who missed the April 15, 2025, income tax filing deadline that it is not too late to file and that prompt action can help minimize penalties and interest if a balance is owed. “While the filing deadline has passed, the longer you wait, the more it could potentially cost you due to penalties and interest,” explained IDOR Director David Harris. “Whether you owe money or are due a refund, it is important to get your return filed and take that first step.”

Technology has improved access to health information, but the spread of misinformation online poses serious risks. To address this, researchers, educators, and communities must work together to ensure people get accurate, evidence-based guidance.

The University of Illinois, along with the Interdisciplinary Health Sciences Institute, and in collaboration with Illinois Extension, has developed the Summer Self-Care 2025 webinar series. This series is part of the Community Seminar Series, and it provides an opportunity for the community to learn about current health research, find reliable sources of health information, and engage in direct dialogue with U of I researchers.
