SHS Girls Track finished in 4th place out of 16 Teams in a very long night at the Tuscola Invite on Monday. Several season PR’s were set as the conditions were finally very favorable for a track meet.

The Sullivan Lady Redskins had a strong showing in the April 22 Tri-County Invitational placing third out of 11 teams, just ahead of Okaw Valley.

The Sullivan Redskins battled nine other teams on Tuesday, April 22 and came out on top with a 16 point margin of victory over second place Shelbyville.
Johnathan Iacobazzi helped lead the way with first place finishes in both the 800m and 1600m Runs. Mason Booker was dominant in the hurdles taking first in the 110m and 300m. Christian Ozier propelled himself to a first place finish in the Triple Jump.

“Go west, young man, go west!” That was Horace Greely’s advice to a generation of young adventurers and pioneers in the 1800s. We think of the advancement of civilization across America always moving west towards the setting sun, filling up the land with settlers along the way.
Nice assumption, but wrong. Pioneers skipped over whole areas of the continental United States, heading for the best places to live. One of those passed-over areas was central Illinois.

Harold E. Renfro, 91 of Lovington, went to be with the Lord and his beloved wife and son at 2:28 AM Friday, April 25, 2025, at Eastview Terrace, Sullivan.
Services to celebrate Harold’s life were held Monday, April 28, 2025, at the First Church of God in Lovington. Interment was in Keller Cemetery, Lovington. Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements. Memorials are suggested to the First Church of God in Lovington.
