The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Illinois Department of Natural Resources and Lake Shelbyville Fish Habitat Alliance (LSFHA) will place donated Christmas trees and artificial structures into Lake Shelbyville to enhance the fisheries on March 25, 2023. Volunteers are needed on shore to help bundle and place trees in boats. To volunteer, meet at the Dam West Recreation Area boat ramp parking lot by 8:30 a.m. Volunteers are required to sign in prior to starting work at 9:00 a.m. A free lunch will be provided. Read More

Play is a very important part of life, from infancy throughout childhood. We often think of the importance of play early in childhood, but there is value throughout childhood, even through adolescence. Extension Educator Judy Schmidt says in her article: My children are 11 and 13 now and the way we play together has changed over time, but there are still many benefits to encouraging play at their age, including practicing self-regulation, learning to adapt and compromise, as well as just having a way to release from the stress and busyness of their days. Smith Signs with Eureka College
Chloe Smith signed her national letter of intent to play softball and basketball at Eureka College next year. Some of her accomplishments include the softball Offensive Award, Redskin Award basketball. She is also involved in or has been involved in Spanish Club, Volleyball, Basketball, Softball, FCA, a member of the NHS, Student Council, Art Club, Book Club, FFA all while being a High Honor Roll student. One Book, One Sullivan Community Discussion
One Book, One Sullivan held their community discussion on Tuesday, March 7 at Sullivan United Methodist Church. There were about 70 students and community members in attendance for their 16th annual meeting. This year’s book was The Blackbird Girls by Anne Blankman.
