The Miss Sullivan Pageants did a bingo prize drive for Mid-Illinois Senior Services, Inc. They spent a few weeks collecting and this week, both Miss Sullivan Sarina Voegel & Jr. Miss Sullivan Miah Voegel delivered the prizes to the senior center.

June is Summer Reading Sign-up Month. Stop in and sign-up to participate in the Summer Reading Program. The dates for the Summer Reading Program will be July 2nd, 9th, 23rd, and 30th from 10-11 a.m.
June 17th - Needle Night from 5-7 p.m. If you would like to learn to crochet, knit, needlepoint, or even how to sew we have people that can help teach you. If you already know how and just want to hang out come join us.
June 7th is Lego time from 3-4:30 p.m.
June 11th is Tyke time from 10-10:30. This is a craft time for ages 0-5.

I do not enjoy cooking. I CAN cook – I just don’t like to. So, my husband and I have been fortunate to be able to eat out at restaurants quite often – when he also chose not to cook. When we had our son, I tried to cook more at home, but we slipped back into that same routine of going out to eat several days of the week – and our son was right there with us. I felt like it was good for him socially but would give him the opportunity to try a variety of foods, and to this day, there is not too many things he won’t eat! But it can be a challenge at times to take young children outside of the home for meals. The Illinois Early Learning Project (IELP) has a tip sheet on this very topic that I would like to share with you. According to IELP, young children eat some meals outside of their home, including locations like: other homes, schools, parks, food courts, cafeterias, hotels, and restaurants. Art will be displayed in Conservation World during the Illinois State Fair

The Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) is hosting a cicada-themed art show during the Illinois State Fair, and it’s going to be a scream.
Illinois is the epicenter of a rare double cicada brood emergence this summer, and IDNR wants to commemorate the occasion with a public art show in Conservation World during the 2024 Illinois State Fair, Aug. 8-18.
Anyone can participate. There will be a junior exhibit for youth 17 and younger, and an adult show for everyone 18 and older. Deadline to enter is Sunday, June 16, 2024. Read More

Edward Linn Voris, known affectionately as Linn, passed away peacefully at home in Windsor, Illinois, on June 3, 2024, at the age of 81. Born on December 20, 1942, to Charles Edward and Helen (Wheeler) Voris, Linn's life was marked by his unwavering dedication to his family, friends, and community.

Lake Land College will host an Introduction to Nursing event on Tuesday, July 23 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Neal Hall. The event is designed for high school students to learn about careers in nursing and gain valuable tips on the nursing special admission process.
During the event, participating students will learn about available nursing programs at Lake Land College and discover career opportunities in the field. They will also meet with program faculty and alumni, tour Lake Land’s facilities and receive hands-on experience in the College’s high-fidelity simulation lab. Read More

Robert “Bob” Pierce, 86, of Windsor, passed away 12:36 a.m. on Friday, May 31, 2024 at Shelbyville Manor.

The Millikin University community gathered for the annual Honors Convocation and Distinguished Faculty Lecture on Thursday, April 25, at Kirkland Fines Arts Center to honor faculty, staff and student accomplishments as the academic year approaches its close.
Over 125 awards were presented to Millikin students and faculty who were honored for their commitment to academic excellence. Many awards have been created to distinguish alums from Millikin’s past. Among those honored were Reagan Crouse, of Sullivan, receiving the Modern Languages Linguistic Excellence Award and Colton Middleton, of Lovington, receiving the Percussion Achievement Award.
