Birkey’s Farm Store recently announced a grant awarded to Birkey’s CNH Service Technician Apprenticeship Program at Parkland College. The grant, supported by East Central Illinois Workforce Board with Champaign County Regional Planning Commission funding, will cover tuition and other additional costs for freshman students.

The Aspen Institute College Excellence Program named Lake Land College as one of the top 150 community colleges in the nation. This is the sixth time Lake Land College has received this recognition. The institutions selected for this honor stand out among more than 1,000 community colleges nationwide as having high and improving levels of student success as well as equitable outcomes for Black and Hispanic students and those from lower-income backgrounds. Area schools, American Legions and the Sullivan VFW recognized veterans with their own unique programs. Francis Drummond Jr. spoke to Danielle Braiding’s fifth grade class about his service in the Navy about the USS Monrovia. 

Cathrine’s Custom Framing and Gallery had its ribbon cutting.

The third annual Insect Day for first graders at Sullivan Elementary was held. After a week long reading series on insect, four first grade teachers in Sullivan arranged for an activity filled day full of learning, exploring, and researching the crawly critters.  Read More
