This month’s Bethany Senior Citizens potluck will be on Wednesday, July 19 at Bethany Library. No bingo. Potluck meal at 11 am. All are welcome.

Sullivan Dance Studio Competition Team will hold a Spaghetti Dinner at the Sullivan American Legion on Friday, July 21. Meal includes: spaghetti, side, garlic bread and tea or lemonade. Pick-up at Sullivan American Legion from 5-7pm. Tickets are pre-sale and deadline to purchase is July 19. They will also have limited walk in meals. The Decatur Audubon Society invites Audubon members and other interested persons to its second summer meeting at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 16, at the Dam and Lake Shelbyville Visitor Center on the east side of the lake on IL Hwy 16. A brief meeting with announcements will precede a tour of the center led by a member of the Lake Shelbyville Volunteer Association. Attendees may then optionally enjoy a meal at a restaurant of their choice in Shelbyville.

Findlay Fire Department will be having a tractor drive on Saturday, July 22. Registration is 7 to 8 am and the drive starts at 8 am. Lineup is on the south side of the fire station. The drive is donation only, with proceeds going to the Findlay Fire and Ambulance Association scholarships. Tractors must be capable of running 12 mph. Side by sides are welcome. Parking and unloading will be at the elevator. The ride will end at Tailwinds for anyone that would like to eat together, you will be responsible for your own meal. Moultrie-Sullivan Fair Held
The Moultrie-Sullivan was held on Friday, June 23 and Saturday, June 24. The fair included a cattle show, goat show, poultry and rabbits as well as a swine show. There were also non-livestock categories such as arts and crafts, clothing and foods. Results from the fair will be printed in a future edition.

Five students from Taekwondo Master Roberts in Mattoon traveled to Plano, TX from Friday, June 23 and Saturday, June 24 to compete in the UTA Taekwondo Grand National Championships. All 5 students won a National Championship title in their age/rank division while competing down there. Among these 5 students were 2 of our very own Sullivan residents, Austin and Annika Kelley.
Annika Kelley, a 3rd grade student at Sullivan Elementary is the 2023 National Champion in Creative Weapons and Traditional Weapons (in the 5-8 year old Intermediate weapons division). This was her first time competing in Nationals, and she took home 2 National titles for weapons. Annika was introduced to Bo staff techniques by Master Roberts in class and has continued to expand and create her own routines and work on new techniques at home. Read More
