Low Brass Day April 1

Millikin University’s School of Music presents Low Brass Day, an engaging and educational event for all high school low brass players, on Friday, April 1, from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. Low Brass Day will be held in Perkinson Music Center on Millikin University’s campus. Registration for the event is $10 and includes lunch and participation.
Millikin University’s Low Brass Day is a special event for high school low brass players featuring a group warm-up, jazz improvisation clinic, a trombone choir led by Dr. Gary Shaw and a tuba/euphonium choir led by Tim Schachtschneider. Read More

Sullivan Art Club to Host Acrylic Painting Workshop

The Sullivan Art Club will begin its 2022 season with an acrylic painting workshop led by area artist Jan VonBokel, who will demonstrate and guide participants through the process of landscape painting. The workshop will be held 9 am to 3 pm Saturday, April 2 in the St. Columcille Church hall located at the east end of the church at the corner of W. Jackson and McClellan Streets in Sullivan. On Friday, March 18 the Sullivan American Legion Auxiliary Unit 68 and The Baking Brigade of Sullivan held a bake sale at the Legion to raise money to donate for humanitarian aid in Ukraine. Steven Dean Auten, 66,  passed away March 14, 2022, at his home in Leavenworth, Kansas.
No Services will be held.
Steve is survived by sister, Julie Ohler, son Jeremy Auten, daughters, April Robertson and Amy Auten.
Steve was preceded in death by wife, Theresa and parents, Phil & Loretta Phillips, Ronald Auten, and sister Cheryl Robinson.

The Kirby Foods meat department delivered hams to the Moultrie County Food Pantry on Wednesday the 16th, thanks to a generous anonymous donation. The hams will provide a nice Easter dinner.
