Lake Land College ADN Students Take Part in Pinning Ceremony

Lake Land College students graduating from the Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) program took part in a pinning ceremony Dec. 15. Each student received a nursing pin and a keepsake card.
When the students pass their NCLEX licensure exam, they will become Registered Nurses (RNs).
“We are all very proud of these students’ accomplishments,” Director of Nursing/Nursing Instructor Cheryl Beam said. “They worked so hard to get here, and we know they will continue to do great things in their futures.” Read More

Elvon Fulton

Elvon Edgar Fulton passed away Wednesday, December 16, 2020, at 5:17 a.m. at Decatur Memorial Hospital in Decatur.
Elvon was the son of S. Edgar and Edna B. (Mundorf) Fulton. He was born January 11, 1940 at Jarman Hospital in Tuscola, Illinois.
Elvon graduated from Arthur High School in Arthur in 1958 where he played percussion in the band. He attended Eastern Illinois University in Charleston from 1958-59. Read More

Seven 17-year-old Sullivan High School students either have been through part of their Army basic training or will be going through it shortly. They are: Rob Feeler, John Booker, Paul Eller, Darlene Chapranda, Patrick Ray, Katie Carlock and Brandi Uselman.
The Bethany school board approved a property tax levy that would bring as estimated 7.7 percent increase in revenue. The 1994 tax extension was $1,254,114 and the new tax levy would bring in an estimated $1,351,250 or an additional $97,136. The equalized assessed valuation of property in the school district is currently estimated at $27,202,000. Read More

Hector Charged with Aggravated Arson and Criminal Damage to Property

Clint A. Hector, 37, of Sullivan, charged with aggravated arson, a Class X felony and criminal damage to property, a Class 3 felony, appeared in court Monday for a preliminary hearing.
According to a probable cause affidavit by Officer Bryce Farris, on November 29 at 11:52 pm CECOM dispatched a structure fire at 17 Chad Ave in Sullivan. While en route, Officer Johnson advised that he was on scene and observed a shed in the backyard of 17 Chad Ave to be fully involved. Read More

Santa Arrives in Findlay
Santa Claus waves from a Findlay Fire Department truck as he travels through Findlay on Saturday. Starting at 4 pm that day a parade of fire department vehicles made their way through town with sirens going and traveled several streets in Findley with the jolly man himself waving and occasionally stopping for photos with children.

Thirteen ladies surprised Virginia Brooks at her home in Lovington last Thursday night by social distance Christmas caroling in her driveway. Brooks used to direct their singing group “Heartland Harmony” and the ladies decided that they wanted to do something special since it is the holiday season. Pictured above are the ladies sitting on the porch with Brooks pictured top center.
