Accident At Howy’s Intersection

On Monday, July 26 at 2 pm there was a vehicle accident between a Freightliner box truck and a passenger car at Howy’s intersection. The box truck was westbound on Bruce Findlay Road and stopped at the intersection with Route 32. Then the truck proceeded into the intersection and a passenger car hit the back end of the box truck on the driver’s side of the vehicle. The driver of the passenger car was transported to Sarah Bush with minor injuries. The Moultrie County Sheriff’s Department and Sullivan Fire and Ambulance responded to the scene.

Douglas-Hart Nature Center Plant A Rainbow

Douglas-Hart Nature Center will be at the Elizabeth Titus Memorial Library on Friday, August 6 at 10 am as part of their Summer Reading Program. The program is called Plant A Rainbow. There will be a small live animal and children will get to take home what they make. There is a limit of 35 children that will be allowed to participate in the program. You can sign up by visiting the library or calling 728-7221.

Community Blood Drives

St. Columcille Church will host a community blood drive from 3 to 6 pm on Monday, August 9 at 516 W. Jackson St, inside the Church Hall. EIU Releases Honors List

Eastern Illinois University recently released their Spring 2021 Honors List.
Summa Cum Laude: (3.9 to 4.0 GPA): Shelby Freeman, Communication Disorders and Sciences, Psychology; Sullivan.
Magna Cum Laude (3.8 to 3.89 GPA): Zoe Donovan, Journalism: Public Affairs Reporting, Windsor; Seth Yeakel, in both Accounting and Mathematics, Bethany.
Cum Laude (3.65 to 3.79 GPA): Ryan Baker, Chemistry, Sullivan and Abigail Wallva, Health Administration, Business Administration, Lovington.

COVID Vaccine Clinic

The State of Illinois is partnering with Marrowbone Public Library District for a free COVID vaccine clinic on Tuesday, July 27 from 10 am to 2 pm. The Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine is authorized and recommended for persons 12 years of age and younger. Mobile Food Pantry

The University of Illinois Extension, in cooperating partnership with Decatur Catholic Charities and Windsor School District, will be holding a mobile food pantry on Wednesday, August 4 from 4:30 pm to 5:30 pm at Windsor Grade School. A mobile food pantry delivers a 2 week supply of food per family in rural communities. Any individual or family that does not have a steady food supply qualifies to receive food. No financial information is required. This distribution is open to all, not only residents of Windsor. You must sign up prior to July 28. Call 217-774-9546 during business hours of Monday-Friday 8 am to 4 pm. Once your form is completed by phone, you will be given a number to bring with you on the day of distribution. If you lose your number, you need to bring identification. The food will be distributed according to your household size on June 16, from 4:30 pm to 5:30 pm at the Windsor Grade School Cafeteria.

Southern Gospel Concert

There will be a free southern gospel concert featuring Jeff Boston of Lebanon, Mo., on Saturday, July 24 from 6:00 to 7:30 pm at Allenville Christian Church. Jeff is a member of the Declaration 212 recording artist family. He has been singing gospel music since he was 12 and has traveled with several Southern Gospel quartets over the years. He now has a solo ministry. Also performing that night will be local Declaration 212 recording artist Greg Ridenhour. A love offering will be collected to support Jeff’s ministry. There will be finger food fellowship following the concert.

Sullivan Elementary School recently received 60 backpacks filled with school supplies through Amazon’s “Together, We Give Back to School” campaign. End of the Line Tackle & Bait, an Amazon delivery partner, nominated Sullivan Elementary for the program, and the school’s submission was selected to receive the donation.
