The Little Theatre On The Square First Friday Concert series will present Heather J. Beck featuring Colleen Johnson and Amanda Bonner Church on Friday, July 2 at 7:30 pm in front of The Little Theatre On The Square. Bring a lawn chair and enjoy a free concert with the stars of The Little Theatre On The Square. Food trucks will be on site.

Anna Fender of Sullivan has been named to the 2021 spring semester Dean’s List at Ohio Wesleyan University. To earn Dean’s List recognition, Ohio Wesleyan students must achieve a grade point average of 3.5 or better on a 4.0 scale in all applicable classes.

The James Rainey Trio from St. Louis will be performing Saturday, June 19 at the Allenville Christian Church at 6 pm. A love offering will be taken. There will be refreshment after the concert.

The inaugural Tommy Houser Memorial Golf Tournament will be held Saturday, June 26. Proceeds will go towards the Thomas Houser Memorial Scholarship Fund. Golfing begins at the Sullivan Country Club with sign-ins at 10 am and a shotgun start at 11 am. There will be a McDonald’s Lunch at Noon. The event will include traditional golf games, 50/50, mulligans, gun raffle and lunch and dinner provided to golfers. First, second and third place teams take home prizes. There will also be male and female winners for longest drive, closest to the pin and longest putt. A party will follow at the Sullivan VFW Post 6410 with silent auction at 3 pm, steak dinner at 6 pm and Identity Crisis playing at 7 pm. Additional steak dinners are available for purchase for $15. The Moultrie Sullivan Fair will be taking place on Friday, June 25 and Saturday, June 26 at the Sullivan 4-H Center, 1400 N CR 1500 E in Sullivan. Entry forms, schedule and fair book can be found online at www.moultriesullivanfair.com. Categories include beef, swine, horse, rabbits, poultry, project, gardening, crafts and baked goods. Spectators are welcome.

There is increasing evidence that brain health is directly related to body health. However, most people think more about keeping their bodies fit or their hearts healthy than working at maintaining a healthy brain. Cheri Burcham, Family Life Educator for University of Illinois Extension, will be offering “Wits Fitness: Brain Exercise Class” the 3rd Monday of each month (except for July and December) at the Extension office located at 304 E. Progress in Arthur and the 4th Monday of each month (except for July and December) at Mid-Illinois Senior Services located at 114 E. Jefferson in Sullivan. Cheri will lead participants through interactive activities designed to exercise the brain to maintain and enhance cognitive function and memory. The next class in Arthur will be held on June 21 from 2:00 – 3:30 PM. The next class in Sullivan will be held on June 28 from 1:00 – 2:30 PM. You are never too young or old to get started training your brain, so join Cheri in this FREE, fun, and informative class! The Village of Lovington will have their townwide cleanup days on Friday, June 11 and Saturday, June 12. Dumpsters will be located behind Mechling’s Backhoe. Things that will not be accepted are paint, appliances, dimensional lumber, tires and electronics.
