Pizza Fundraiser for Food Pantry

The Bethany Food Pantry is inviting supporters to enjoy pizza Monday, June 10 at Monical’s Pizza in Sullivan and help support the pantry.
The “Community Day” celebration at Monical’s gives supporters a chance to give back to the community through the Bethany Food Pantry.
Go to www.monicalspizza.com, click fundraising, then Community Day calendar. Then print the flier and dine.
By dining on Monday, June 10 Monical’s will donate 20% of the check to Bethany Food Pantry. For more information call Vicki Osman at 217-620-8274.

Sullivan Farmer’s Market is open from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesdays and 4-7 p.m. Wednesdays.
Farmer’s Market is located on the square in Sullivan and runs through August 19.

Strasburg Lions Chicken Fry

The Strasburg Lions Club will hold its annual chicken fry 4:30-7 June 2 at the Strasburg park. On the menu will be fried chicken, potato salad and cole slaw. Proceeds from the chicken fry go towards aiding the hearing and visually impaired, village projects, and park upkeep.

Friday Return for Lovington Junefest Fish Fry

The Lovington Community Club will return to a Friday night fish fry this year at the request of the Lovington American Legion. The Community Club’s Junefest Fish Fry and the Lovington Community Fireworks will happen on Friday, June 14 because the Saturday date conflicts with the Legion’s monthly pork chop dinner.
The fish fry starts at 4:30 p.m. offering food, booths and entertainment in Tom Conn Park until 7 p.m.
The entertainment will continue at the field north of the Lovington Grade School until the sparks start flying after sundown.

Pancakes Served at Spin Event

Illinois Amish Heritage is offering breakfast at the June 1 event.
As the spinning wheel turns, the history of Illinois Amish heritage is revealed in a Sheep to Clothing event Saturday, June 1, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
New this year will be a pancake breakfast that will be served from 7:00-10:00 a.m. Pancakes, sausage, and traditional Amish liverwurst will be served.
After that, Warren Catering will serve a lunch menu of porkchops, chicken salad, chips, a side, and drinks as well as hot dogs for the kids.

WHS Class of 2020 Hosts 5K

The Windsor High School Class of 2020 will be hosting a 5k at the Windsor Harvest Picnic on August 17.

WTIM is Back on the Air

Newstalk WTIM Sullivan radio station is back on the air after the tower on which they lease space went down during last week’s severe weather.
The Big 870 AM and 107.7 FM stations feature Newstalk WTIM Morning Show with Brad Graven live from the Jackson Family Dealerships in Sullivan every Wednesday 8:40-10:00am.
They are also home of extensive local news, weather and agriculture coverage plus St. Louis Cardinal baseball.

Findlay Firemen Golf Outing

The Findlay Firemans Association Golf outing is June 29 at the Eagle Creek Golf Course in Findlay.
Shot gun start is at 8:00 a.m. sharp.

Early Memorial Day Deadlines

Memorial Day Observations

Memorial Day observations begin at the Moultrie County Courthouse at 7:45 a.m. Monday, May 27.
From there the Sullivan American Legion Post 68 Honor Guard will lead the Memorial Day Parade to Greenhill Cemetery where a formal service will be conducted at 8 a.m.
The Honor Guard will then attend services at the Wyman Park Memorial followed by breakfast at American Legion Post 68.
They will conduct Memorial services at the Moultrie County Memorial Park at 11 a.m.
Lovington American Legion will host their Memorial Day services Sunday, May 26 at 1 p.m in Tom Conn Park.
Memorial Day mass will be observed at St. Isidore Catholic Cemetery in Rural Bethany at 10 a.m. Monday, May 27. Bring lawn chairs.
Memorial Service at Oak Grove Baptist Church, located on Wilborn Creek Road, is 10:30 a.m. Sunday, June 2.

On Tuesday, April 28th, under the direction of Dr. Ian Kinkley, Band Director, the Sullivan Band Program presented its symphonious Spring Band concert, titled “Evening Escapes,” which showcased the magnificent and diverse talents of the Sullivan 6th, 7th and 8th grade bands, combined with the Sullivan High School Band and Jazz Band.
