Dove Candlelighting

Dove invites you to join them for their 18th Annual Candlelighting Ceremony, “From Darkness to Light”.
It will be held 7:00 p.m. Thursday, October 25 in the First United Methodist Church, Sullivan.
At this service, participants will mourn those who have suffered and died through domestic violence and celebrate with the survivors and those working to end the abuse. The ceremony which takes place in October as part of Domestic Violence Awareness Month will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, October 25 in the First United Methodist Church located at 216 W. Jefferson in Sullivan.
The service will include remarks from coordinator Mary Hughes, music, and the lighting of the candles.

First Baptist Trunk Or Treat

First Baptist Church in Sullivan will have a Trunk or Treat party in front of the church from 4–6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31
Pack your car or truck trunk with “goodies” and enjoy the party. The church will provide free hot chocolate outside the west door.
The public is cordially invited to attend, and don’t forget to bring the children.

Secret Santa Sign Up Time

Sign up for Operation Secret Santa begins Thursday, Nov. 1 and continues through the Wednesday, Nov. 21 deadline.
Individuals may sign up at the Sullivan Police Dept. from 6:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

New Date for Equipment Test

Moultrie County Clerk Georgia England reported the public test of the Unisyn Optical Scan and Touch Screen tabulating equipment to be used for the November 6 General Election has been rescheduled to 10:00 a.m. Monday, October 29 in the Elections Counting Center Room on the first floor of the Moultrie County Courthouse. in Sullivan.
The test is open to candidates, representatives of political parties, the press and the public.
Public testing of equipment was originally set for Wednesday, Oct. 24.

Sullivan Kid’s Boo Bash

Sullivan Dance Studio’s Competition Dance Team is hosting a “Kid’s BOO BASH” on Friday, October 26 from 6-8 p.m. Students only in grades Kindergarten through 4th Grade from area schools are invited to attend.
Our “Not-So-Scary-Halloween Party” will help raise funds for our dancer’s competition and costume fees. The 9th annual Sullivan Fire Protection District pancake and sausage breakfast is from 6-10 a.m. Saturday, October 20 at the Fire Station.
Come in for all you care to eat pancakes and sausage prepared by Sullivan’s own first responders.
If you don’t want to bring the whole family in, carry out is available.
Really hungry? Buy a five pound box of sausage while you visit the House of Blues.
Children five and under eat free Sat. Oct. 20 at the Sullivan Fire House, 115 W. Harrison St.

Missionaries to Hungary Speak

First Baptist Church will host a community brunch at 8:30 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 21 in Fellowship Hall to welcome Larry and Becky Stanton who are missionaries to Hungary.
Following the brunch, the Stantons will present a special informational presentation about their missionary work in Hungary. They are currently serving with the International Missionaries, Hungarian Baptist Aid and the Baptist Union on Hungary. Becky is serving as a teacher, and Larry is working with refugees in various countries around Hungary.
They work with schools in the eastern region of the country, primary and elementary community schools in Teglas and a technical school in Debrecan. The Stantons provide the students and staff with instruction and conversation practice in English and maintenance support in addition to classroom responsibilities. The Stantons participate in school activities and are involved in Christian outreach. Their children attend local schools and are becoming fluent in Hungarian.
First Baptist Church invites the community to join them for this brunch and to learn more about these two International missionaries serving in Hungary. A love gift offering will be taken for Larry’s mission work with refugees.

Chili Cook-Off at First Baptist

The First Baptist Church will host a chili cook-off following church service at 11:00 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 28. Serving will begin at 11:45 in Fellowship Hall.
Bring your favorite chili to be judged or act as a judge and sample the entries.

On Tuesday, April 28th, under the direction of Dr. Ian Kinkley, Band Director, the Sullivan Band Program presented its symphonious Spring Band concert, titled “Evening Escapes,” which showcased the magnificent and diverse talents of the Sullivan 6th, 7th and 8th grade bands, combined with the Sullivan High School Band and Jazz Band.
