•September 28, 2016•

The Sullivan City Council took a moment to remember past city employee Bill Rankin who recently passed away.

At the Monday, September 26 city council meeting health and safety commissioner Bill Hagen commemorated Rankin in a letter he read into the record.

“Last weekend Bill Rankin passed away. Bill grew up in Sullivan as his father worked for the city electrical department. Bill raised his two children here. He spent most of his employment serving the city of Sullivan. After high school, Bill Rankin started at the Sullivan sewer plant. He earned all the required licenses and retired as chief operator.

There are a few of us still around who worked with Bill. We enjoyed his easy to get along with attitude and have memories of some good laughs shared.”

Rankin worked for the city a total of 31 years. From 1967-1977 and again from 1983-2004.
