The Sullivan American Legion will be hosting a Santa picture Bingo on Saturday, December 7th from 8-11am at the Legion, 8 E Strain Street. Featuring a bake sale and a large breakfast of AYCE pancakes, sausage, scrambled eggs, donuts and fruit with choice of drinks being orange juice, milk and chocolate milk. Entry fees for guests 12 and up will be $8 and children under 12 have an entry fee of $5 with Bingo games only being $.25 cents per game. Windsor NHS is hosting a Christmas Movie Night on Sunday, December 15th at three. All ages are welcome to bring a blanket and pillow and join others to watch a Christmas movie in the Windsor Jr/Sr High School new gym. Entry fee is $3, included is free parking and free popcorn. The Mid-Illinois Senior Services Center, in collaboration with Senior Education Ministries of Terre Haute, is set to host a free lunch while dining with a doctor. Allowing seniors a chance to relax and eat while listening and ask questions from 11am to 1pm December 3rd. During the three hour lunch, seniors can expect fellowship with peers, door prizes and conversation with a doctor. The lunch is free but there are limited spots available, reserve a spot by calling the Mid-Illinois Senior Services Center at (217)728-8521 during office hours, Monday-Friday, 8:30am-3:30pm.

December’s Quarter Madness this year will be benefiting the Mid-Illinois Senior Services, Inc, hosted at the American Legion Post #68. Door open at six on Wednesday, December 11th with the full event start just 30 minutes later for all ages. There will be food for sale in the parking lot by Highway Heartburn as well as a bake sale. The Moultrie County Courthouse is holding a hat and glove drive to provide for children and young adults in local schools. The courthouse employees are asking for the public to donate through December 20th. There is a little tree on the first floor of the courthouse to drop off your donations.
The Village of Bethany is feeling the warm spirit of Christmas quite early this year, having created a chance for local residents and those within Moultrie to nominate someone in the community in need of a Christmas Miracle. The last day to nominate someone for the blessing in November 27th, recipients will be chosen and notified no later than Tuesday, December 3rd. The Moultrie Shelby County ROSC is partnering with ACE Hardware to provide the community with a free laundry day at the Rainbow Wash House, 809 W Jackson Street, Sullivan. Funded by the Illinois Department of Human Services, Division of Substance Use Prevention and Recovery, the community will have access to free laundry on December 5th starting at nine. Naloxone and Naloxone trainings will be readily available to community members during the event. To donate to future laundry days, contact Skylar Miller at skylark@hourhouserecovery.org.
The 52nd annual Senior Citizens Christmas Dinner, hosted by Okaw Valley School District, will be once again returning to the Okaw Valley High School cafeteria on Friday, December 6th at noon.
