SAIL, Soyland Access to Independent Living, will host a workshop introducing the 2016 Updates to Medicare Part D 9:30-11 a.m. Monday, September 14 at the Mid-Illinois Senior Center Services, Inc. located at 114 E. Jefferson Street in Sullivan. The presenter is Deb Groendal, Mid-Illinois Senior Services Inc., Senior Health Insurance Program Coordinator. The workshop is free; reservations are not required. Sparrows Unlimited of Lovington is having a Toy Run Saturday, Sept 26.
Sign up is at Rusty’s Bar in LaPlace from 11 a.m. - 12:30 p.m., and all vehicles are welcome. The price of admission is a toy.
The most extreme original and wildest outfit of the day will win a special prize. A very unique game is planned for the day with details revealed at each stop along the way. Teams may be include one to four members.

There will be a benefit for the Harboured Veterans organizations at the Sullivan V.F.W. from noon until 2 p.m.Sunday, Sept. 6.
All proceeds will go to veterans of Moultrie County. Live entertainment and free yoga lessons will be offered during the event.
There are no fees, but donations will be accepted.

The American Red Cross team from Peoria will be at the Bethany Fire House on Route 121 2-6 p.m. September 1 to collect blood from donors. The drive is being sponsored by the Theta Psi Chapter. Nominating petitions for candidates planning to run in the March 15, 2016 General Primary Election will be available in Moultrie County Clerk Georgia England’s office Monday, August 31.
The first day to circulate petitions for established political parties and independent candidates is September 1, 2015. Filing period is 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. November 23, 24, and 25 and 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. November 30.
The countywide offices up for nomination are four full year terms for circuit clerk, coroner and state’s attorney; and, four year terms for county board members with four seats available. Precinct committeemen will be elected during the primary as well.
