Scavenger Hunt Saturday in Sullivan

A 13-18 year old scavenger hunt will take place this Saturday starting at 9. Headquarters will be at the park at our camper and clues will be throughout the city of Sullivan.

Scout History Presented Historical Society

The Moultrie County Historical and Genealogical Society will hold their monthly general meeting at 7 p.m.Thursday, August 20 in the Heritage Center in Sullivan.

The program for the evening will be the History of the Boy Scouts in Sullivan and some information on scouting in Lovington and Bethany.

The speaker for the evening will be Gerry Wood, former scoutmaster. Wood holds the award of Eagle Scout, district award of Merit and the Silver Beaver award.

Alzheimer’s Benefit

Eastview Terrace will have a benefit 6 p.m.-midnight September 5 at the Sullivan VFW.

The fun-filled night will include a 50/50 raffle, live band, Dj and karaoke, a silent auction, and a live auction that will include a 500-12 gauge pump combo shotgun, a five foot handmade wooden lighthouse and much more. There will be a $5.00 cover charge.

All proceeds will be donated in honor of Eastview’s residents past and present, and they are being donated locally to the National Alzheimer’s Association.

Eastview Terrace, located at 100 Eastview Place, specializes in Alzheimer’s and dementia care and is the only home in Moultrie County that is certified in the Music and Memory program.

Annual Meeting for Okaw Farmers Coop

The tenth annual meeting of the members and shareholders of the Okaw Farmers Cooperative, Inc. is Thursday, August 20 at Yoder’s Kitchen in Arthur.

A dinner will be served between 4:30 and 6:30 p.m. preceding the business meeting which starts at 7 p.m,.

Tony Brown, president of the Board of Directors of Okaw Farmers Cooperative, will outline goals for the company’s future. General manager Jeff Myers will discuss operations.

Credit Unions Across State Lines

Illinois has recently signed two cooperative agreements that will facilitate the ability of state chartered credit unions to operate across state lines. By signing the 2015 Nationwide Cooperative Agreement for the Supervision of State Chartered Credit Unions and the Southeastern Regional Cooperative Interstate Agreement for the Supervision of State Chartered Credit Unions, Illinois gains the ability to promote interstate commerce and cooperation on a reciprocal basis among participating states.

Faith Lutheran Church VBS Aug. 22 and 23

Faith Lutheran Church vacation Bible School Circus is Saturday and Sunday, August 22 and 23.

Heroes of the Bible is the theme and includes stories of David and Goliath, Samson and Delilah and Daniel and the Lions Den.

Children from age three to fifth grade entry are encouraged to attend. Circus continues through Sunday with a VBS children’s service followed by a picnic/potluck at 11 a.m.

Evangelism Exhibit

The Highway Church of Christ in Sullivan is overseeing 50 years of Exhibit Evangelism at the Illinois State Fair beginning Sunday August 14.

Throughout the week more than 100 volunteers will be on hand 9 a.m.-9 p.m. through August 23.
