Discolored Water Still Okay to Consume

News Progress Posted on June 10, 2014 by webmasterJune 10, 2014

Sullivan water plant maintenance ongoing

According to Sullivan health and safety commissioner Bill Hagen routine maintenance at the water treatment plant has led some city patrons to experience discolored water and odor.

The yellow tint is iron that due to maintenance of a juncture of pipes and valves, is unable to be filtered out as normal. The Sullivan water tower, which was recently repainted, was also put back online Monday. However, Hagen said the levels of iron in the water supply resulting from the maintenance and water tower are still safe to consume.

The commissioner says he hopes to complete the maintenance work in the next few weeks.

For more information or questions, contact the Sullivan city building at 728-4383
