Due to Christmas and New Years falling on a Wednesday this year the deadline for the holiday papers has been moved up. Deadline for the December 25 issue will be the previous Thursday, 12/19, at noon. Deadline for the January 1 issue is the previous Thursday, 12/26, at noon.
This deadline is for all items including legals, display advertising, classifieds, news items and obituaries.
Enjoy Nativity displays at the First United Methodist Church in Sullivan, across from firehouse. On December 14 and 15 there will be several privately owned nativities on displays in the sanctuary and other areas within the church. The public is welcome to come and view these displays from noon to 3:00 p.m. each day.
Donations will be accepted and proceeds will benefit the local ministries in Sullivan.
Sparrow Unlimited, of Lovington, will hold the annual Christmas for the Kids fundraising auction online this year. Bidding will be between December 8 and 14, with last bid accepted at 2:00p.m. central on the 14th. A link to the Facebook page for the auction can be found on the Sparrows Unlimited Facebook page.

The Sullivan American Legion will be hosting a Santa picture Bingo on Saturday, December 7th from 8-11am at the Legion, 8 E Strain Street. Featuring a bake sale and a large breakfast of AYCE pancakes, sausage, scrambled eggs, donuts and fruit with choice of drinks being orange juice, milk and chocolate milk. Entry fees for guests 12 and up will be $8 and children under 12 have an entry fee of $5 with Bingo games only being $.25 cents per game. Windsor NHS is hosting a Christmas Movie Night on Sunday, December 15th at three. All ages are welcome to bring a blanket and pillow and join others to watch a Christmas movie in the Windsor Jr/Sr High School new gym. Entry fee is $3, included is free parking and free popcorn. The Mid-Illinois Senior Services Center, in collaboration with Senior Education Ministries of Terre Haute, is set to host a free lunch while dining with a doctor. Allowing seniors a chance to relax and eat while listening and ask questions from 11am to 1pm December 3rd. During the three hour lunch, seniors can expect fellowship with peers, door prizes and conversation with a doctor. The lunch is free but there are limited spots available, reserve a spot by calling the Mid-Illinois Senior Services Center at (217)728-8521 during office hours, Monday-Friday, 8:30am-3:30pm.

December’s Quarter Madness this year will be benefiting the Mid-Illinois Senior Services, Inc, hosted at the American Legion Post #68. Door open at six on Wednesday, December 11th with the full event start just 30 minutes later for all ages. There will be food for sale in the parking lot by Highway Heartburn as well as a bake sale. Bring a bingo prize and receive a free $1 paddle. To sign up bake goods for the bake sale call (217)728-8521, Monday-Friday from 8:30-3:30pm, baked good must be done the day before by noon.
