The Windsor High School Class of 2025 is sponsoring this year’s Windsor Harvest 5K Run in conjunction with Windsor Harvest Picnic on Saturday, August 17.

Registration can be found on the Windsor High School website (windsorcusd.org) or participants can come that morning and sign up. Registration fee is $20.00 and includes a T-shirt. There are six different age divisions and medals will be given to the top male and female winner in each division, as well as, overall best time and eldest racer. Check-in is under the Windsor City Park pavilion, 1109 Ohio Ave in Windsor at 7 a.m., same day registration the race will begin at 7:30 a.m. 

A portion of the race proceeds will be given to the scholarship fund set up for Edie, Karly, and Sienna.

Simon Hunter of Sullivan has been named to the Blackburn College Dean’s List for the 2023-2024 academic year. Students named to the Dean’s List must earn a grade point average of 3.6 or higher for the semester. Hunter earned this recognition for the Fall 2023 and Spring 2024 semesters. Founded in 1837, Blackburn College is a four-year, Presbyterian-related, co-educational liberal arts college located in Carlinville, IL. One of only ten federally recognized Work Colleges, Blackburn is the only Work Program in the nation managed by students. Balancing academic rigor and experiential learning, each student at Blackburn gains tangible experience and develops critical skills by contributing to their community, all while building a resume and earning their degree. U.S. News & World Report has recognized Blackburn College as one of the best colleges in the Midwest region for 2024. Blackburn also earned a top-ten ranking for social mobility. Mackville will be live in concert on Saturday, August 10th at 6pm at the Allenville Christian Church, 201 Allen Street in Allenville. Following the concert there will be a finger-food fellowship and offerings will be collected.

Sullivan’s First United Methodist Church will be hosting a drive-thru dinner on Friday, August 30th from 4:30 to 6pm. This will be happening at the church on 216 W. Jefferson Street in Sullivan. It is an advance sale only of $12 per meal or meal ticket. The tickets can be bought ahead of time from any of the following volunteers: Jenee Purkes, Cindy Guin, Bob and Teresa Lane, Bob Freeman, Katrina Murphy, Jeanette Suding, Julie Misa, Karen Dwyer and Korin Beckwith. The meal provided will be pulled pork BBQ, cheesy potatoes, seasoned green beans and a brownie. All funds or donations will be going to the Ellen Winskill Bernius Low Cost Spay and Neuter Fund Administered by Moultrie County Illinois PAWS.  PAWS is a program which is dedicated to enriching the lives of companion animals in Moultrie County, they assist in spaying and neutering both dogs and cats throughout the county. They also provide basic vet procedures such as flea treatment, rabies vaccines and ear mites, keeping pets clean and healthy for a low cost.
