Lakeview College of Nursing in Danville and Charleston, announced numerous scholarship awards for the Spring 2023 semester.
Dakota Clayton, of Sullivan, received the LCN Transfer Need-Based Scholarship. Clayton attends classes on Lakeview’s Charleston campus.
Lakeview College of Nursing Scholarships are made possible by generous donations to the College’s scholarship endowment fund. Scholarships are awarded based on criteria established by the donor and each applicant’s financial need and/or academic merit.
Lakeview College of Nursing offers a bachelor of science in nursing degree. It is a single-purpose, private institution specializing in nursing education in the Danville, IL, area since 1894. Lakeview began offering the program in Charleston, IL, in the fall of 2001.

Moultrie County Monthly Quarter Madness will hold their April Quarter Auction on Wednesday, April 12. The event will be held at the Sullivan American Legion. Habitat for Humanity is the charity of the month. Vendors at the event could include: direct sales such as Avon, Scentsy, JBloom Jewelry, Thirty-One, Tastefully Simple, Paper Pei (formerly Usborne Books), Pampered Chef, plus different craft vendors, hair bows, boutique clothing, shoes, accessories and more. Come shop the vendors and stay for the quarter auction. Bring your quarters for charity item and extra bidding. All-In paddle will be $20. Doors open at 6 pm and quarter auction begins at 6:30 pm. All ages are welcome to attend. Food will be available for purchase through Highway Heartburn food truck in the Legion parking lot. Drink purchases can be made through the Legion. The Cadwell community will host a community blood drive with ImpactLife, the provider of blood components for local hospitals, on Tuesday, April 18 from 3 to 7 pm at 1533 CR 1900 N, Cadwell, the donor bus will be parked by M&E Woodcrafts. Keegan Rhodes, from Mattoon, was named to the Milwaukee School of Engineering’s Dean’s List for the 2023 Winter Quarter. Rhodes is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science. Undergraduate students who have earned at least 30 credits and have a cumulative GPA of 3.20 or higher (out of 4.0) are on the Dean’s List. Students who have maintained a 3.70 or higher receive “high honors.”

The University of Illinois Extension, in cooperating partnership with Decatur Catholic Charities and Sullivan United Methodist Church, will host a mobile food pantry on Wednesday, April 19 from 4 to 5 pm at Windsor Grade School. A mobile food pantry delivers a two week supply of food per family in rural communities. Any individual or family that does not have a steady food supply qualifies to receive food. No financial information is required to qualify. This distribution is open to all, not only residents of Windsor. Sign up by Wednesday, April 12 by 4:30 pm by calling 217-774-9546 from 8 am to Noon and 1 pm to 4:30 pm during business hours only. Once your form is completed by phone, you will be given a number to bring with you on the day of distribution. If you lose your number, you need to bring identification. The food will be distributed according to household size on April 19 from 4 pm to 5 pm at the Windsor Grade School cafeteria.

Agri-Fab is hosting a community food drive through April 1. There are several different ways to participate. Non-perishable food or monetary donations can be dropped off to your local food bank or Agri-Fab’s HR office, donations can be mailed marked food drive to Agri-Fab, 809 S. Hamilton, Sullivan, IL 61951. Agri-Fab will do a porch bag drop-off on Saturday, March 25. Fill up your bag with non-perishable food and leave it for pick up on Saturday, April 1.
