The Robert and Leila Lorenson Scholarship is available to graduates of Arthur Lovington Atwood Hammond High School. The application can be obtained from the school website. High school students should apply by April 15 and postsecondary students by June 1.

Rhodes Named to Dean’s List

Keegan Rhodes, from Mattoon, was named to the Milwaukee School of Engineering’s Dean’s List for the 2023 Winter Quarter. Rhodes is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science. Undergraduate students who have earned at least 30 credits and have a cumulative GPA of 3.20 or higher (out of 4.0) are on the Dean’s List. Students who have maintained a 3.70 or higher receive “high honors.”

Mobile Food Pantry

The University of Illinois Extension, in cooperating partnership with Decatur Catholic Charities and Sullivan United Methodist Church, will host a mobile food pantry on Wednesday, April 19 from 4 to 5 pm at Windsor Grade School. A mobile food pantry delivers a two week supply of food per family in rural communities. Any individual or family that does not have a steady food supply qualifies to receive food. No financial information is required to qualify. This distribution is open to all, not only residents of Windsor. Sign up by Wednesday, April 12 by 4:30 pm by calling 217-774-9546 from 8 am to Noon and 1 pm to 4:30 pm during business hours only. Once your form is completed by phone, you will be given a number to bring with you on the day of distribution. If you lose your number, you need to bring identification. The food will be distributed according to household size on April 19 from 4 pm to 5 pm at the Windsor Grade School cafeteria.

Agri-Fab Food Drive

Agri-Fab is hosting a community food drive through April 1. There are several different ways to participate. Non-perishable food or monetary donations can be dropped off to your local food bank or Agri-Fab’s HR office, donations can be mailed marked food drive to Agri-Fab, 809 S. Hamilton, Sullivan, IL 61951. Agri-Fab will do a porch bag drop-off on Saturday, March 25. Fill up your bag with non-perishable food and leave it for pick up on Saturday, April 1.

Grill Off to be Held

History Center Grand Opening

The Moultrie County History Center will have their grand opening on Saturday, April 1 from 11 am to 4 pm. The musical highlight of the day will be the 33rd Illinois Volunteer Regiment band performance at 1 pm. They are re-enactors in Civil War period uniforms playing the instruments from the day. The new history center is located at 1303 S. Hamilton in Sullivan.

Easter Eggstravaganza

The 2nd Annual Easter Eggstravaganza will be held on Saturday, April 1 from 11 am to 1 pm at Courtyard Estates of Sullivan, 20 Courtyard Blvd. in Sullivan. Egg hunt will start promptly at 1 pm and there will be 10,000+ filled eggs. Bring your own Easter basket. The event will also include inflatables, petting zoo and pony rides, balloon animals, a dj, 50/50 raffle, various food trucks and more. There will also be a bike raffle for each age group. Ages 0-11 welcome.

Sullivan High School student Claire Kursell recently participated in the Central Illinois High School Art Exhibition at Millikin University. She received an honorable mention for her piece, “Bride of Frankenstein”.
