Not many years ago, while browsing the Internet looking through agricultural magazines, I unexpectedly came across some family history. Actually, I was searching for an idea, food for thought that I might expand on for an article I could write for a paper or magazine. There were plenty of farms and farmers on both sides of our family, so why wouldn’t there be some aspect of the industry I could relate to, possibly more than one. Well, that isn’t the general topic that stopped my search almost at its inception. Congressman Glenn Poshard visited Sullivan and appeared before a crowd of 50 at the Moultrie County Farm Service office to announce a $252,000 water quality program for Lake Shelbyville.
The Bethany School Board okayed the formation of a new computer committee to address the district’s computer system needs, capacity and purpose. During that same meeting the board approved a $2,180,000 district budget. Board member Steve Funk cast the only no vote on the budget. Funk explained that he objected to an 18 percent increase in expenses in the budget and told the board he didn’t believe that was what referendum voters had voted for in April.

Starting September 1st, Sullivan Schools have been approved by USDA to provide breakfast & lunch to all children 18 years and younger at no charge to all families until December 31, 2020. Sullivan School District would like to assist our community during these most difficult times by providing breakfast and lunch to all area children. Students who attend Sullivan Schools may eat their meals at no cost to students in our cafeterias, with any additional items above the normal meal guidelines charged at regular prices. Read More
