New AT&T Antenna
The second largest crane in the state with a 400 foot reach hoisted the workers in the cage to the top of the AT&T Cellular tower in Sullivan earlier this week. The company was replacing the antenna at the top with a new and improved version.

WHS Students Placed in Contest
Two Windsor High School students recently placed in the regional WYSE (World Youth in Science and Engineering) contest held at Lake Land Community College on Feb 3. Anthony Curry (right) placed second in computer science and Joel Beck placed third in physics. Both are seniors at Windsor High School.

The Burden of Silence
Sullivan High School presents The Burden of Silence at 7:00 p.m. Friday Feb. 17 at the Little Theater on the Square in Sullivan. Rehearsals are underway for this originally scripted play by the Mirror Image students of Rebecca Lawson’s. Five Pies for Mr. Ogle!
The students of Sullivan High School worked hard in raising money for juvenile diabetes research through a penny war that ran for two weeks during lunch and were able to raise a total of $500. The sophomore class took fourth place in the competition, the seniors third place, the freshmen second place and the winners were the juniors. Students wrote their names down when they made donations, and names were drawn from those juniors who contributed to their winning effort to smash a pie in assistant principal Nathan Ogle’s face. The number of pies was determined by the amount of money raised with each $100 earning a pie.

Harshman Honored
Sullivan Chamber and Economic Development honored several in the community during the January 27 luncheon. Above Ron Harshman received the Lifetime Achievement Award. One of the six founding members of Agri-Fab, Harshman’s devotion to community working with American Cancer Society and Relay for Life exemplifies the meaning of Lifetime Achievement.

ALAH Knights Win Tournament
The ALAH Knights won the LOVC Tournament Championship. Head coach Craig Moffett explained: “Rebounding is something we’re always trying to improve, being that we’re not an overly tall team. I do think we are improving in that area. In an early practice Janette Comstock said “rebounding is all about heart/desire,” and she’s exactly right. Our balance is a luxury with unselfish players as the most important aspect of the balanced offense. We do have multiple girls who can score off dribble, in post or shooting from perimeter. Payton Wellbaum had a very good game tonight and was set up by excellent post entries.”

Women Who Care Donate
Elizabeth Houser (right) and Stepheny McMahon presented the 100 Women Who Care donation to Mary Hughes, director of DOVE (center). There are 40 individuals or teams committed so far for 2017 so DOVE will receive $4000 from the generous women of Sullivan. The next 100 Women Who Care meeting will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 11 at 5 West Coffee Lounge. Hughes will be in attendance to reveal how the funds to DOVE will be used before the next recipient is nominated.
