Scholastic Bowl Conference Champions
The Sullivan High School scholastic bowl team won the Central Illinois Conference last weekend. From Left to right: Ben Richter (coach) Katie Webb, Trevor Elder, Lindsay Jones, Spencer Johnson, Grace Mauck, Brendan Rau, Luke DeLong, Justuss Ramsey, Parker Whitaker, and Atticus Harris. They competed Jan. 7 in five matches and finished 5-0 winning the conference tournament and finishing the conference season with a 19-0 record. Leaders on the day were Grace Mauck who had 18 toss ups, Luke DeLong with 15, Trevor Elder six and Spencer Johnson two. The last three games were very close against St. Teresa, Central A&M, and Meridian. The team kept their cool and got some key toss-ups to remain in the lead. DeLong was recognized for most toss-ups for the season (All Conference first place) with 56. Mauck was All-Conference second place with 51 on the season.

Gold Slips for SES
The Sullivan Elementary School SES Gold Slip winners for the months of November and December are (from left to right): Mitchell Hooten, Rhett Lehman (standing), Roman Miller, Ava Eckert, Luke Waelde, Abagail Dean, Mae Dawkins, Lillian Moxley, and Aiden Burgess. Not pictured are Kolton Wiley and Malaysia Haywood. Gold slips are awarded to students who go above and beyond expectations inside and outside the classroom. During recess, while things were hectic, Rhett Lehman stopped in the middle of his game to help a student pick up her math fact cards that had fallen all over the area. Roman Miller was putting forth his best effort in the classroom. Luke Waelde is a leader in the classroom and sets an example around the school by following expectations and being respectful at all times. Aiden Burgess, Abagail Dean, Lillian Moxley, Kolton Wiley, Mitchell Hooten, Mae Dawkins, Malaysia Haywood, and Ava Eckert all helped clean up the cafeteria after second and third grade lunch all of first semester.

Hams for Christmas
Thanks to the generosity of one anonymous Sullivan individual 100 hams were delivered from Sullivan IGA to the Moultrie County Food Pantry Dec. 20. IGA meat dept. manager Barry Golden (right) explained this was the second year for the $1200 donation. Joining Golden delivering the hams were Matt Martin (left) and Timothy VanDeursen. Food Pantry director Kristy Dawson said the request list for the hams filled quickly, and they would all be picked up by Wednesday just in time for Christmas.

Okaw Valley Honors Teacher
During an awards ceremony at Okaw Valley Elementary School a special honor was given retiring teacher Debbie Weinstock. Members of Weinstock’s third grade class presented her with a quilt they made for her in class without her knowledge. Principal Doug McCausland pointed out the students had Mrs. Weistock pick material for the quilt they secretly made for her.

Scholarship for Sullivan Grad
Nick Frerichs of Sullivan has been named the recipient of the US Bank Scholarship awarded through the Kaskaskia College Foundation at Kaskaskia College in Centralia. Frerichs is a graduate of Sullivan High School and is a sophomore at KC. He is the son of Dan and Kerri Frerichs and a member of the Kaskaskia College Blue Devils Baseball Team. Secret Santa Volunteers
Secret Santa volunteers from pickup day are Gregg Foster, Lisa Sheehan, Justine Brewer, Mark Brewer, Carol Mode and Cheryl Thomas. These are just a few of the volunteers with Secret Santa. The volunteers say they are blessed to be able to give back to the communities of Moultrie County.

Holiday Concert
Sullivan Middle School was the scene of the holiday concert held this past weekend. Mr. Jeff Thomas and Mr. Brock Freece coordinated the school wide musical event played to a capacity crowd. Above Thomas leads: (left to right) Molly Dendy, Natalee Hunter, and Rylee Roehrs sing a special holiday tune.

Holiday Music Program
The Sullivan Middle School choir performed in holiday concert Dec 10 before a capacity crowd in the middle school gymnasium. Music director Jeff Thomas and band director Brock Freece prepared the program.
