Santa Arrives
It was a frosty arrival by horse drawn carriage for Santa Claus to the annual Sullivan Hometown Christmas Parade on December 5. Sponsored by Petersen Health Care the parade kicked off from the high school parking lot at noon and ended with Santa taking children’s Christmas requests at the Sullivan American Legion Post 68 . Faith Lutheran Church/ Thrivent Financial sold dog and cat treats in front of Little Theatre to raise money for Homeward Bound Animal Shelter. First Christian Church gave away hot chocolate and coffee on the south side of the square.

Boy Scout Troop 39 and Cub Scout Pack 39 held their annual scouting for food event. More than 3,560 pounds of food were collected.

Windsor FFA in Dairy Competition
Photo at left: On November 18th, the Windsor FFA attended the Dairy Foods CDE hosted by the Sangamon Valley FFA chapter.
Windsor FFA attendants were Bailey Fleshner, Travis Fox, Mackenzee Hooten, Morgan Lesko, Whitney Pepperdine, Kendra Reed, and Gage Sattler.
The sections of the CDE were cheese identification, artificial vs. real products, milker part defects, a written test and milk defects. The Windsor FFA team placed ninth overall.

SBL Sullivan Clinic Donates to Sullivan Athletic Booster Club
Sarah Bush Lincoln Sullivan Clinic recently donated $1,680 to the Sullivan Athletic Booster Club from sports physicals performed over the summer. The physicals were provided at reduced costs to numerous athletes by Matthew Dorner, MD, and Tammy Munch, PA-C, who donated their time. The physicals were $20 each, and all the proceeds were donated back to the school. Turkey Time
Sullivan IGA delivered all the turkeys purchased as a result of customer donations during the fourth annual roundup fundraiser for the Moultrie County Food Pantry just in time for Thanksgiving. IGA Shoppers rounded up their tickets, donating toward the turkey purchases. On November 23 IGA store manager Pat Stinson, meat dept. manager Barry Golden, Seth Cobb and Matt Martin delivered 98 turkeys to CEFS coordinator Kristy Dawson. Those turkeys went out to 98 families who had signed up previously with the Moultrie County Food Pantry. Included in that Thanksgiving basket from CEFS are ingredients for green bean casserole , stuffing mix, noodles and chicken broth, mashed potatoes and gravy, corn, marshmallows and yams, fruit, cranberry sauce, pumpkin filling and pie crust mix.
