Funeral services to celebrate her life will be 11 a.m. Thursday, October 18 at First Church of God in Lovington; visitation will be one hour before the service. Burial will take place in Greenhill Cemetery in Sullivan. Read More

Joy Colclasure, formerly of Sullivan, passed away of lung cancer in Arizona October 1, 2018, after a short illness, with her loving family around her.
Marietta Joy Anderson was born October 21, 1941 in Chicago, Illinois to Tony E. and Violet Shick Anderson. The family moved back to Sullivan during WWII, where Joy grew up. She attended Eastern and later finished her associate degree in Arizona where she lived for about 23 years. Read More

Shirley Fay Park, 79, of Auburn, formerly of Sullivan, passed away at 5:23 a.m. Thursday, October 4, 2018 in Auburn Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.
Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, October 8 in McMullin-Young Funeral Home in Sullivan. Burial was in Greenhill Cemetery in Sullivan.
Shirley was born April 4, 1939 in Moultrie County, a daughter of Earl and Frances Harmison Loy. She was a former member of First United Methodist Church in Sullivan. Read More

Richard David Bolin 79, of Mt. Zion passed away at 8:40 a.m., Tuesday, October 2, 2018 in his residence.
A service to celebrate Richard’s life was held at 11 a.m., Saturday, October 6 at Dawson & Wikoff Funeral Home in Mt. Zion. Burial was in Greenhill Cemetery in Sullivan with military honors provided by the Macon County Honor Guard and the US Army Honors Team.
Richard was born November 13, 1938 in Decatur, a son of Rex W. and Mabel Mardelle McCain Bolin. Richard obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Illinois. He went on to serve in the US Army and obtained the rank of Captain. Read More

Richard Dale Martin Jr, 48, of Columbia, Missouri, formerly of Bethany, passed away Monday, October 1, 2018 in Harry S. Truman VA Hospital in Columbia, Missouri.
Rick was born December 11, 1969, in Decatur to the late Richard Dale Martin Sr. and Nancy L. Risley Ozee. He grew up and attended Bethany High School where he graduated in 1988. Rick enlisted in the United States Marine Corps straight out of high school. He honorably served his country four years as a military policeman including serving during Desert Storm. After the service, he resided in the San Diego, Calif. area before moving to Columbia, Mo. Read More

Bart W. Qualls, 53, of Sullivan, passed away at 3:34 p.m. Thursday September 13, 2018 in Sullivan.
Celebration of Life services were at 11 a.m. today (Wednesday) in Reed Funeral Home in Sullivan with Pastor Charliam Renner officiating.
Bart was born February 15, 1965 in Decatur the son of Arthur Eugene and Barbara Albert Qualls. He had been a dedicated worker for the Sullivan School District for 19 years. He was a member of Sullivan First United Methodist Church. Bart married Linda Martinie August 13,1983 in Decatur. Read More

The Moultrie-Douglas County Fair Pageant will be held Monday, July 27th at 6:00 p.m. for Little Miss Fair Queen and 7:00 p.m. for Miss and Junior Miss Fair Queen located at the south track on the Mo-Do Fairgrounds. Vying for the title of Miss Moultrie Douglas Fair Queen are: Abigail Meyer of Tuscola, Addee Mulligan of Arcola, Sarah Rogers of Atwood, Ava Whitson of Tuscola, Addisyn Wilson of Villa Grove, Emma Spillman of Tuscola, Aymara Leal of Arcola and Katilyn Kirby of Sullivan.
