Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., Monday, May 8 in Gieseking Funeral Home in Altamont with the Rev. Marek Kasperczuck officiating. Burial followed in St. Bonaventure Cemetery in rural St. Elmo. A Rosary with visitation was held Sunday, May 7 at the funeral home.  Read More

A Celebration of Life visitation will be held 5-7 p.m. today (Wednesday, May 3) in the Mason Point Chapel in Sullivan with a memorial service following at 7 p.m. A private family graveside service will be held at a later date in Roselawn Memorial Park in Springfield. Read More

Mickey Kay Fleener, 68, of Lake City passed away early Tuesday morning, April 25, 2017 in St. John’s Medical Center in Springfield.

Funeral services to celebrate her life were at 2 p.m. Saturday in Moran & Goebel Funeral Home in Decatur with the Rev. Larry Bricker officiating.

Mickey was born April 23, 1949 in Arthur to William Thomas and Mabel Stolley Dean. She married Michael Fleener June 10, 1967 in Arthur. Mickey loved to read, shop, flowers and little babies. Read More

Dona Joann Grove, 84, of Bethany, died at 1:50 a.m. Saturday, April 15, 2017 in Decatur Memorial Hospital.

Memorial services will be held at a later date. Reed Funeral Home in Sullivan is in charge of arrangements.

Dona Joann Grove was born January 2, 1933 in Rinard, Illinois to James Lowell and Edna Marie Gibbs. She graduated from high school and moved to Decatur to work at Kemper Insurance where she met and married Jimmie Dale Grove. Together they raised five children in Bethany. Read More

Doris Roney Bowers, 88, of Decatur died peacefully April 8, 2017 in her home.

Funeral services were held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 11 in Brintlinger & Earl  Funeral Home in Decatur. Burial was in Keller Cemetery in Lovington.

Doris was born November 12, 1928 in Findlay, a daughter of Oscar and Vera  Morris Roney. She married Robert G. Bowers September 3, 1960 in Decatur, and  he preceded her in death October 9, 1999.  Read More

On Tuesday, April 28th, under the direction of Dr. Ian Kinkley, Band Director, the Sullivan Band Program presented its symphonious Spring Band concert, titled “Evening Escapes,” which showcased the magnificent and diverse talents of the Sullivan 6th, 7th and 8th grade bands, combined with the Sullivan High School Band and Jazz Band.
