Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday, December 1 in McMullin-Young Funeral Home in Lovington. Visitation will be held an hour prior to the service in the funeral home in Lovington. Burial with military rites by Lovington American Legion Post #429 will be in Keller Cemetery in Lovington.  Read More

Cecil R. Burgess, 95, of Sullivan passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by family at 11:01 p.m. Saturday, November 26, 2016.

Celebration of Life services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Reed Funeral Home in Sullivan with Pastor Don Lusk and Pastor Fred Hauck officiating. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. today  (Wednesday). Burial will be in Greenhill Cemetery in Sullivan with military rites conducted by Sullivan American Legion Post #68. The family suggests casual attire. Read More

James Carviel Hale Jr., 61, of rural Shelbyville, died Sunday, November 20, 2016 in Carle Hospital in Champaign.

Celebration of Life Services will be 5-7 p.m. Monday, November 28 in Lovins-Lockart Funeral Home in Windsor. Memorial service will follow at 7 p.m.

Jim was born May 9, 1955 to James Carviel Hale, Sr. and Virginia Nichols Hale in Decatur. He married Becky Tice October 24, 2002 in Shelby County. He retired from Norfolk and Western Railway Decatur. Jim attended school in Windsor.   Read More

Angela Marie Beery Springman, 51, of rural Lovington lost her battle with cancer but won the war with death as she entered Heaven at 12:25 p.m. November 19, 2016.

A Celebration of Angie’s life will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov 25 in Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 219 S. Lincoln St. in Bethany.  Pastor Gail Allen and Pastor Ben Harris will officiate. An informal gathering of family and friends will begin at 4 p.m. Friday at the church in Bethany. Casual attire is requested.

A private graveside service will be held in Mackville Cemetery in Atwood with Pastor Kevin Ray officiating. Read More

Edythe was born June 29, 1937 in Danville, Illinois to Vincent and Marguerite Murphy Blair.

Edythe (Edy) is survived by her husband of nearly 60 years Zachary L. Taylor of Westville, Illinois; their children Maureen (Frank) Cattani of Ladd, Illinois, Kelly (Charles) Bland of Bethany, Greg Taylor of Clearwater, Fla., Karl (Charina) Thorndyke of Chicago and Tracy (Tom) Steier of Parrish, Fla.; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and sisters BJ Baker of Clearwater, Fla. and Mary (Floyd) Darling of Homosassa, Fla.

Helen Maxine Doss, 91, of Windsor passed away in her home Wednesday, November 9, 2016. She was born in Lovington to James and Leta Bell Miller.

Graveside services for the family were at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, November 13.  Lovins-Lockart Funeral Home in Windsor assisted the family.

Helen had a strong desire to serve in the Women’s Army Corps, but she met and fell in love with Theron Doss. They were married in McLennan County, Texas July 1, 1944, and their marriage lasted 70 years.  Read More

The Moultrie-Douglas County Fair Pageant will be held Monday, July 27th at 6:00 p.m. for Little Miss Fair Queen and 7:00 p.m. for Miss and Junior Miss Fair Queen located at the south track on the Mo-Do Fairgrounds. Vying for the title of Miss Moultrie Douglas Fair Queen are: Abigail Meyer of Tuscola, Addee Mulligan of Arcola, Sarah Rogers of Atwood, Ava Whitson of Tuscola, Addisyn Wilson of Villa Grove, Emma Spillman of Tuscola, Aymara Leal of Arcola and Katilyn Kirby of Sullivan.
