David Bradley Magos, 39, of Bement, passed away at 4:23 p.m. Tuesday, March 22, 2016.

Visitation will be held from 1- 2 p.m. Saturday, April 2 in McMullin-Young Funeral Home in Sullivan. Inurnment will be held at a later date.

David was born April 8, 1976 in Urbana, the son of Chuck Magos and Helen McKee Gillespie. He married Andrea Marie Hopper July 8, 2003 in Sullivan, and she survives. He was employed with Wood Specialties and previously for Wright Tree Services. Dave was foremost a loving father to his children and dedicated his life to them. He enjoyed building model cars with his son Dawson, being outdoors, riding four-wheelers and being around his friends and family. He also enjoyed playing video games and fishing with Deegan. Dave had a smile that could light up the room. Read More

Lura Elizabeth ‘Betty’ Bryant, 89, of Mattoon, died at 3:40 p.m. Thursday, March 17, 2016 in her home.

Memorial services will be at a later date with burial in Keller Cemetery in Lovington. Reed Funeral Home in Sullivan is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Bryant was born March 2, 1927 in Monroe County, Kentucky, a daughter of Berry Jackson and Vertie Alma Stinson Doss. Betty had been a waitress and was a member of the Mattoon Eagles, Moose and Eastern Star. Betty loved to play bingo, and her grandchildren lovingly referred to her as ‘Bingo Betty’. She married Roy L. Bryant, and he preceded her in death February 26, 1978. Read More

The Moultrie-Douglas County Fair Pageant will be held Monday, July 27th at 6:00 p.m. for Little Miss Fair Queen and 7:00 p.m. for Miss and Junior Miss Fair Queen located at the south track on the Mo-Do Fairgrounds. Vying for the title of Miss Moultrie Douglas Fair Queen are: Abigail Meyer of Tuscola, Addee Mulligan of Arcola, Sarah Rogers of Atwood, Ava Whitson of Tuscola, Addisyn Wilson of Villa Grove, Emma Spillman of Tuscola, Aymara Leal of Arcola and Katilyn Kirby of Sullivan.
