Heaven gained a special guardian angel. Fredia Mae (Price) White, 90, of Sullivan passed away at 4:30 p.m. Sunday, February 28, 2021, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Decatur.
Visitation will be held 5-7 p.m. Friday, March 5, at McMullin-Young Funeral Home in Sullivan. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 6, at McMullin-Young Funeral Home in Sullivan. Face masks are suggested, and please practice social distancing for the services. Burial will be in Cerro Gordo Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice. Read More

Due to complications with COPD, John R. Schwartz passed away Friday, February 19, 2021, in his home with family in League City, Texas. He was 70 years old. John and his wife, Marsha Diana Schwartz (Taylor) were residing at 230 Creekview Street, League City, Texas 77573. John has been reunited with his family in God’s Kingdom. They include his father and mother, Roger Schwartz and Jeanette “Granny” Schwartz (Pritts), and sisters, Peggy Greco Ipolito, and LouAnne Banks. Also celebrating alongside him in heaven is his brother from another mother, William “Bill” Gary, formerly of Atlanta, Georgia. Read More

Celebration of Life services were at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Sullivan First United Methodist Church with Pastor Mike Fender officiating, assisted by Adam McReynolds. Burial was in Oak Grove Cemetery in Bethany. Read More

New royalty to be crowned
The Moultrie-Douglas County Fair Pageant will be held Monday, July 27th at 6:00 p.m. for Little Miss Fair Queen and 7:00 p.m. for Miss and Junior Miss Fair Queen located at the south track on the Mo-Do Fairgrounds. Vying for the title of Miss Moultrie Douglas Fair Queen are: Abigail Meyer of Tuscola, Addee Mulligan of Arcola, Sarah Rogers of Atwood, Ava Whitson of Tuscola, Addisyn Wilson of Villa Grove, Emma Spillman of Tuscola, Aymara Leal of Arcola and Katilyn Kirby of Sullivan.
