Girls track finish middle of the pack in Monticello

SHS Girls Track finished in 14th place with 14 points at the 20 team Monticello Invitational last Friday against several 2A schools. Riane Bear had a tremendous night winning the high jump at 1.62 meters in a field of 23 athletes. Julia Moody finished 7th place in the 3200 meter run in 13:46, while Avery Renfro finished 7th in the 400 meter in 1:03. The 4 x 200 relay of Dyer, Bear, Crothers, and Hodge also finished 7th in 1:53.

SHS Shae Ellis Signs with Rend Lake College

On April 24th, Shae Ellis signed her letter of intent to continue her golf career at Rend Lake College this Fall. Said Shae, “I am excited to continue my golf journey. My goal is to make it to nationals, NCJAA.” Shae will be studying Business and Marketing. Pictured L-R seated, Mother Laura Ellis, Shae Ellis, Father Rick Ellis. Girls track sets several personal records

SHS Girls Track finished in 4th place out of 16 Teams in a very long night at the Tuscola Invite on Monday. Several season PR’s were set as the conditions were finally very favorable for a track meet.

Local girls compete in 11 team Tri-County Invitational

The Sullivan Lady Redskins had a strong showing in the April 22 Tri-County Invitational placing third out of 11 teams, just ahead of Okaw Valley.

Sullivan boys top 10 teams in Tri-County Invitational

The Sullivan Redskins battled nine other teams on Tuesday, April 22 and came out on top with a 16 point margin of victory over second place Shelbyville.

Johnathan Iacobazzi helped lead the way with first place finishes in both the 800m and 1600m Runs. Mason Booker was dominant in the hurdles taking first in the 110m and 300m. Christian Ozier propelled himself to a first place finish in the Triple Jump.

Redskin track takes first at Warrensburg-Latham Quad

The SHS Boys track team finished in 1st place at the Warrensburg-Latham Quad Meet on Tuesday, April 15 besting Cerro Gordo-Bement, Central A&M and the host.

Redskins finish strong at Invitational

The SHS Boys track team finished in 3rd Place out of 18 teams at the ALAH Invitational on Saturday. The biggest highlight was Mason Booker resetting his own school record in the 110m Hurdles once again with a time of 15.34 seconds. The athletes below earned points at the meet.

The Sullivan track teams hosted Effingham (St. Anthony), Cerro-Gordo/Bement and Tuscola April 1st with both teams finishing second.

Dawkins NEHS submission wows 



News Progress


Mae Dawkins, a Sullivan High School senior and member of the National English Honor Society, was recently informed that she is a national winner of the NEHS Intellectual Freedom Challenge, a prestigious competition that encourages NEHS members to craft compelling arguments defending texts that have faced challenges and bans. Her essay scored among some of the best submissions in the nation by university professors. May was awarded a certificate and a $150 dollar prize.
