Swim Team Dominates at Olympia Meet

Sweep for SOV Girls’ Swimmers
SOV girls’ swimming kicked off the season competing at Olympia High School. They brought home a full sweep of the girls’ division. In the individual events the high point awards went to Okaw Valley junior Anna Wooters first place; SHS swimmers McKenna Kull second, Natalie Drury third place and Allison Oligschlaeger fourth. They received first place in all four relays: 200 free with a time of 1:45.59, 400 medley relay 4:29.70, 200 medley 2:00.14, and the 400 free relay 3:52.54.

Sullivan Volleyball Heads to Shelbyville Regionals

The Sullivan volleyball team dropped a Central Illinois Conference match and two non-league matches this past week.

Sullivan lost to Cerro Gordo, Windsor-Stewardson-Strasburg and Central A&M

Monday night. Sullivan dropped two sets to Cerro Gordo, 26-24, 25-13.

Laine Cameron and Gwen Diepholz, together, earned 15 assists. Read More

OV Volleyball Defeats Bement, Loses to Meridian

The Okaw Valley volleyball team lost two matches and won one this past week, defeating Bement but losing to Meridian and Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond.

Against Bement last Tuesday the Timberwolves won in three sets.

OV lost the first set 25-22 but battled back to take the next two sets, 25-18, 25-19.

Sadie Zimmerman collected 16 assists and nine digs, and Natalie Jeffers totaled 13 assists, three kills, 11 digs and three aces. Read More

The Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond football team dropped a close Little Okaw Valley Conference game 20-17 against Cerro Gordo-Bement on senior night Friday.

“We competed very well and played hard and physical,” said ALAH coach Dale Schuring. “But we didn’t capitalize on the numerous opportunities we had to take control of the game.”

In the first quarter the Knights drove the ball down to the Broncos 6-yard line on the first possession of the game but had to settle for a field goal to take a 3-0 lead.

Cerro Gordo answered in the first quarter with a touchdown and a 2-point conversion to make it an 8-3 game. Read More

Okaw Valley Adult Women’s Tennis Wins

Okaw Valley Adult Women’s Tennis Wins
The Okaw Valley women’s tennis team won their first match with Effingham last week. The United States Tennis Association USTA sanctioned women’s 5.5 tennis league team shut out Effingham. Okaw Valley won all three matches:  6-1/6-0,   6-3/6-1, and    6-1/6-1.  Following another Effingham match Sunday, Oct. 15, the new team faces Decatur on their home court. The adult women’s league runs three times a year and is open to women 18 and over. Sullivan Boys’ Cross Country Fourth at Invite

The Sullivan boys’ cross country team placed fourth in the Central Illinois Conference meet at Tuscola’s Wimple Park and 13th in the Cumberland Invitational this past week.

Thursday in the CIC meet, Sullivan scored 84 and had two runners earn all All-Central Illinois Conference honors.  Read More

The Moultrie-Douglas County Fair Pageant will be held Monday, July 27th at 6:00 p.m. for Little Miss Fair Queen and 7:00 p.m. for Miss and Junior Miss Fair Queen located at the south track on the Mo-Do Fairgrounds.
