OV Volleyball Wins Conference Match

The Okaw Valley volleyball team tallied two more wins this past week, including its first Little Okaw Valley (Northwest) Conference match up.

OC defeated Arcola Thursday and Ramsey last Tuesday.

The Timberwolves defeated Arcola 25-16, 25-22 to start the LOVC at 1-0.

During the match some players and fans wore green ribbons and Ws to show support for Mattoon after the recent school shooting. Read More

ALAH Soccer Defeats Meridian

ALAH Football Falls to LSA

The Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond football team lost to LSA 52-0 at Decatur Friday.

“It was a disappointing evening in all aspects,” said coach Dale Schuring. “We did not come prepared to play at the level we needed to compete with a solid well coached team.”

LSA took 10-0 lead in the first quarter and blew the game open with 28 points in the second.

ALAH struggled moving the ball, and the Knights’ running back totaled only 24 yards offense.

Will Cohan completed 1-of-4 passes to Kobe Wells for four yards.

Marcus Vanausdoll recorded a team-high nine unassisted tackles, and Lucan Otto had six tackles. Read More

Lady Redskin Golf Has Busy Week

Sullivan girls’ golf competed three meets this past week.

The Redskins defeated St. Teresa and hosted Mt. Zion at Southside Country Club Thursday.

Addison Darush was meet medalist.

The three counting scores were Alexis Britton, Irie Dulin, and Esther Miller.

Sullivan also competed against host Pana and Charleston at the Pana Country Club. Read More

OV and Sullivan Golf Tied for Third

The Okaw Valley golf team defeated Villa Grove Thursday, lost to Sullivan and tied for third in the Windsor Golf Invitational at at Fox Prairie Saturday.

Saturday in Windsor, OV tied Sullivan for third place out of 15 teams with a score of 330.

Hillsboro shot a 309, and St. Anthony finished with 325.

Crawford 77 tied for fourth place with a 77, and Cameron Nickerson took sixth with an 80. Read More

Sullivan V-ball Works On Hitter Coverage

The Sullivan volleyball team dropped two Central Illinois Conference matches this past week.

The Redskins lost to Tuscola Thursday and Monticello last Tuesday.

Against Tuscola, the Warriors defeated Sullivan in straight sets, 25-9 and 25-13.

“The Lady Redskins worked on their hitter coverage, picking up several blocked balls,” said coach Jennifer Young. “They also disciplined themselves in the second set to vary their service receive.” Read More

Sullivan Golfers Tie OV at Windsor Invitational

The Sullivan boys’ golf team defeated Okaw Valley at home last Tuesday and then tied the Timberwolves for third place out of 15 teams in the Windsor Golf Invitational at Fox Prairie Saturday.

Monday evening, the team also won a quadrangular at Altamont to extend its winning streak to 15-0.

Last Tuesday, the Redskins beat OV 167-176.

For Sullivan Caden Ellis was medalist with a score of 39.

As last reported, Caden Ellis is third in all-area players’ score. He has shot nine rounds of golf and averages a sore of 37.4 Read More
