Brett Tuttle returned to the mound for the first time since an injury and allowed just one earned run over five innings in a quality start. Sullivan secured their 12th win overall and fifth in the Central Illinois Conference.

Head coach Troy Rogers complemented Tuttle’s performance after the win. “That is a big arm to have back in our lineup, and it was a good game to get him going again. I thought he looked sharp down in the zone after the first inning he mixed things up.”

Meridian drew first blood to take an early lead 1-0 after the first. The Redskins threatened to score in the bottom half of the second inning but stranded the bases loaded with two outs.

Sullivan broke through in the third after a leadoff infield single by Zach Hrvol paid off on an RBI infield single by Zach Sowers.

Sowers then came home to score on a Tom Schibur double down the line just out of reach of Meridian’s third baseman. The RBI double put Sullivan in front 2-1, a lead they would hold onto thanks in part to heads up play at first base by Hrvol.   Read More
