Sullivan’s Ray signs with Frontier

On Thursday, November 13th, Sullivan High School Senior softball player Harmony Ray signed to play at Frontier Community College in Fairfield, while majoring in early childhood education, in the new SHS gymnasium. 

Parents Matt and Jenn Ray looked on proudly, as did her teammates and friends, while Sullivan High School coach Valerie Denier spoke about Harmony’s commitment to the game and her team. Harmony’s Cobras coach was Jim Cross.

LLC named National Trap Shooting Champion Runner-Up Team

The Lake Land College Clay Target Shooting team was named the National Trap Shooting Champion Runner-Up Team at the USA College Clay Target Nationals. The team placed second, trailing only Lindenwood University in the national event in which 244 athletes participated, representing 25 colleges and universities across the country.

“I am very proud of the way we closed out another fantastic season for our Clay Target team,” Clay Target Shooting Head Coach Josh Fulk said. “The team is still very young, with this being just our third year offering the sport at Lake Land. Already, we’ve proven we belong alongside some of the most accomplished programs in the country. I’m proud of the way our athletes performed and am looking forward to how this program continues to grow each year.”

Individually, Lake Land College Clay Target team member Collin Hewing placed second in the High Gun Gold Male category, finishing with a score of 198/200.

SBD begins short-course season

Sullivan Blue Dolphins headed to Terre Haute October 25th and 26th for the start of their short-course season. SBD took the 1st place trophy with 1356.5 points, edging out 2nd place by 291.5 points. SBD had 7 swimmers bring home high point winners. 

In the 6&u division was Tinley Eads won 1st place with 66 points. Then in the 8&u division, it was Emme Kirkley with 1st place, and she had 86 points. 

Also in the 8&u SBD had Stella Perrott with 2nd place and 25 points. In the 11-12 division, there was Michaela Blickensderfer with 71 points to earn 1st place and Avery Hess with 67 points for 2nd place. In the 15&O women’s division, it was Emily Crosier who took 1st place with 88 points. Then, in the men’s 15&O division, it was Nathan Rafferty who took home 1st place with 78 points. The Dolphins definitely put on a show this weekend at the 2025 THT Halloween Splash.

Redskins gain momentum in season finale

Sullivan moved to 7-2 on the season after downing the Argenta-Oreana Bombers Friday night 34-27. The Redskins put 19 on the board in the first quarter courtesy of rushing touchdowns by Aiden Dinger and Owen Smith and an interception return TD by Jaden Hussong.

Redskins take down the Villa Grove Blue Devils

Sullivan, celebrating Senior Night, took on Villa Grove Friday night with a chance to qualify for the playoffs for the third straight year with a victory. Aiden Dinger opened up the scoring with a 6 yard touchdown run and a Collin Shain PAT put the Redskins up 7-0 at the end of the first quarter.

Redskin football takes down Tri-County

Sullivan got back into the win column Friday night, soundly defeating the Tri-County Titans 47-6. In the first quarter, Owen Smith connected with James Feldkamp on a 14-yard pass to start off the scoring, and Aiden Dinger added a 16-yard rushing TD, and the Redskins never looked back. 

Sullivan kept up the onslaught in the second with Smith connecting with Logan Fleener on a 21-yard touchdown and Aceon Fryman for a 13-yard TD, sandwiched around his own rushing score. Smith ran for his second TD of the night in the third quarter on a 51-yard scamper, and in the fourth, Kolten Kirby punched one in from 4 yards out. Sullivan gave up the one scoring play through the air in the third. Dinger led the Redskins with 66 yards on the ground, and Smith balanced the attack out with 61 yards through the air. 

The win improves the Redskins to 5-1 on the season.

SBD and Civic Center ‘team up’ for community

Sullivan Blue Dolphins and the Sullivan Civic Center celebrated their 60th birthday on Sunday, September 21st. SBD invited the EIU swim team to come in and work with some of the Silver, Gold, and Titanium swim groups. The SBD enjoyed their time and learned a lot from the EIU swimmers. 

The community was there and enjoyed open swim, the Sullivan High School boys’ basketball team, bounce houses, and the many vendors. The local Boy and Girl Scouts pitched in by selling food at the event.

Okaw Valley Senior ‘Golf night’

Okaw Valley held Senior Golf night on Tuesday, September 16th. Golfers include: Front - Exchange student Lena Hildebrandt, Ava Harshman, and Kate Stauder. Back - Braden Montgomery, Daniel Cazel, Tucker Montgomery, Wyatt Hildebrandt, and Brady McQuilling.
