“Safeguarding Tomorrow” Low-Interest Loans Available to Illinois Communities

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has announced the formation of the new Safeguarding Tomorrow Revolving Loan Fund (RLF) Program to help with hazardous mitigation projects at the local level. While funding for this program has not yet been authorized for Illinois, the Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA) needs to document program interest among our communities in order to be considered for the grant. Moultrie County Republicans Lincoln Day Dinner
The Moultrie County Republicans held their Lincoln Day Dinner on Saturday, March 18 at the Sullivan American Legion. The event included a live auction, 50/50, gun raffle, dinner and speakers. This year’s keynote speaker was Darren Bailey (pictured above). Other speakers included Shane Bouvet and Congresswoman Mary Miller.

Lake Shelbyville Fish Habitat Improvement Day

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Illinois Department of Natural Resources and Lake Shelbyville Fish Habitat Alliance (LSFHA) will place donated Christmas trees and artificial structures into Lake Shelbyville to enhance the fisheries on March 25, 2023. Volunteers are needed on shore to help bundle and place trees in boats. To volunteer, meet at the Dam West Recreation Area boat ramp parking lot by 8:30 a.m. Volunteers are required to sign in prior to starting work at 9:00 a.m. A free lunch will be provided. Read More

On Route 133 between Lovington and Arthur, power poles fell as a result of the storm systems that hit central Illinois in two waves on Wednesday, June 17th. These storms left many without power and caused widespread damage throughout the area, including confirmed tornado touchdowns in nearby counties.
