The Sullivan Senior Club will have their Thanksgiving meal at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 19 at the Sullivan Senior Center. Turkey will be furnished.

I read all the letters to the editor and was impressed with both the subject matter and the letters from the students. My thanks to the instructor and the students. Hope to see more opinions on more subjects in the future.

SBL Health Screenings

SBL Lincolnland Home Care and Lincolnland Hospice will conduct a free blood pressure clinic from 8:30 to 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 21, 2019 at the Senior Center, Sullivan. For more information, call Lincolnland Home Care at 1-800-879-3212.
SBL Lincolnland Home Care, Lincolnland Hospice and Lincolnland Home Medical will sponsor bingo from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. following the blood pressure clinic.
Please note: If the schools are closed due to adverse weather, the senior center will also be closed.

Sullivan Schools recently held parent-teacher conferences, which provided an evening opportunity for parents to visit our schools and spend time learning about the happenings in their children’s classrooms.
This was the second year that we have hosted conferences on two evenings instead of an evening followed by a morning. The change was made after analyzing attendance during previous conference days. Read More

Lake Shelbyville Seeks Volunteers

Officials from the U.S Army Corps of Engineers, Lake Shelbyville, are looking for volunteers to help take care of Coon Creek Campground and Lithia Springs Campground. Moultrie Health Dept. offers Cancer Surviving & Thriving Program

Take Charge of Your Health
Beginning on Tuesday, November 12 the Moultrie County Health Department in collaboration with Covenant Transitions will sponsor a Cancer Surviving & Thriving Program.
The program is free and open to anyone who has been affected by cancer personally or as a partner, family member or caregiver.
The Cancer Surviving & Thriving curriculum consists of six weekly classes, which will meet from 4-6:30 p.m. each Tuesday through December 17.
Classes will be held at the Moultrie County Health Department located at 202 S. Main, Sullivan. Read More

The seven Sixth Judicial Circuit candidates for retention have been rated by area attorneys in an Illinois State Bar Assn. poll, with Moultrie County’s Dan Flannell receiving an 84 percent general approval rating.
A public meeting of Bethany residents opposed to school consolidation with Sullivan will meet Tuesday in the Bethany High School Library.
Pat Young, Kay Frederick and Jo Ann Bolin all returned from a two-day continuing education class in Paducah, Kentucky. The subjects covered included new trends in hair care, perming and shaping.
One point is what separated the Sullivan High School football team from going undefeated as all three of the Redskin losses came by one point. One point is what separated Sullivan from gaining a playoff berth. The difference in the game was a missed two-point conversion after Adam Gurchiek returned an 81-yard kickoff following a St. Teresa Bulldog touchdown. Read More

Training for Agencies Serving the Homeless

The Macon County Continuum of Care is sponsoring a training on Coordinated Entry process for all agencies utilizing the coordinated approach of serving the homeless population in Macon County. The training will be held on Friday, November 15, 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Madden Auditorium at the Decatur Public Library in Downtown Decatur. “Together, We Give Back to School”

Sullivan Elementary School recently received 60 backpacks filled with school supplies through Amazon’s “Together, We Give Back to School” campaign. End of the Line Tackle & Bait, an Amazon delivery partner, nominated Sullivan Elementary for the program, and the school’s submission was selected to receive the donation. Pictured (left to right) are Cameron Martin, Taylor Lilly, James Martin, Marla Martin and Angela McRill following the July 27 delivery.
