Sullivan Area Arts Calling for Artists for Artoberfest 2014

The fourth annual Artoberfest contest will be held during the Octoberfest, October 17-18. Sponsored by the Sullivan Area Arts, this contest is open to anyone in high school and older to enter original works of art including three-dimensional and photographic work. LLC Honors Glazebrook with Exemplary Trustee Award

The Lake Land College Board of Trustees awarded Leland Glazebrook as a posthumous recipient of the Clem G. Phipps Exemplary Trustee Award last Tuesday evening.
His surviving family members – Richard Glazebrook and wife Carol; Roger Glazebrook and wife Sara; Sarah Glazebrook-Perry and husband Todd; and Jim Glazebrook and wife Tena – received the award on his behalf. Read More

Peace Meal Receives Three-Year Funding Award

Sarah Bush Lincoln was awarded funds to help support Peace Meal Senior Nutrition Program for the next three years.
The grant was received from the East Central Illinois Area Agency on Aging.
With the notification of the renewed funding, Peace Meal is restoring home delivery to five days a week beginning October 1 to seniors in its 14-county region. Read More

McDonald’s Perks Up Patrons with Free Coffee

Second national free coffee event goes from Sept. 16-29

McDonald’s has announced a second national Free Coffee Event, an opportunity for even more coffee lovers to enjoy a freshly brewed McCafé coffee.
From now through Sept. 29, guests may get a free small McCafé coffee all day at participating McDonald’s restaurants across the country. This event builds on McDonald’s first-ever Free Coffee Event launched in March when the company gave away millions of cups of free coffee during the two-week period. Read More

Power Outages Seen Across Moultrie Monday

The communities of Sullivan, Lovington, and Bethany all were the victim of a power outage Monday, though some to more an extent than others.
According to Ameren Illinois  spokeswoman Marcelyn Love, storms, which moved through the area around 11 a.m. Monday, were credited with the outage, including outages in Bethany that later caused Okaw Valley officials to dismis students early at 1:15 p.m. Read More

LLC Mod II Classes Begin Oct. 20

With Mod II classes beginning October 20, it’s not too late to register for a GED course. The Lake Land College Adult Education Center offers local GED courses in your community and a variety of workforce training including health sciences, manufacturing skills and college preparation.
Adult Education courses are offered in two, eight-week modules in Arthur. Mod I classes are already underway, but Mod II classes run from Oct. 20 – Dec. 11. Read More

Waggoner Recognized for Outstanding Volunteer Service

C.E.F.S. Economic Opportunity Corporation recently held their 2014 annual meeting and for giving the gift of valuable time to help others, C.E.F.S. recognized Ronald Waggoner of Bethany as a 2014 Outstanding Volunteer.
