Art Club Workshop Saturday

The fourth Sullivan Art Club workshop will be held on 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, October 19. The presenter, artist Becky Marcussin, will lead and guide participants in the use of pastels. Marcussin holds a B.A. and M.A. in studio art from Eastern Illinois University. She has begun her 17th year as an adjunct faculty member at Lake Land College in Mattoon. McElroy Featured at Kidsfest in Sullivan Tues.

Former NFL player and chaplain to the Chicago Bears Ray McElroy will be the featured speaker at Sarah Bush Lincoln’s Kidsfest. McElroy will visit six area schools, including Sullivan Middle School next Tuesday, and provide an inspirational message about nutrition and fitness. Read More

Food Drive at Oktoberfest This Weekend

Members of the public may drop off canned goods at the United Way Tent on the square during Oktoberfest 11 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Saturday.

The first 40 people to donate 10 lbs of food or a $10 donation will receive a chili cook-off ticket.

Sporting Clay Shoot To Benefit Lincolnland Hospice

Twin Oaks Sporting Clays is hosting its inaugural Hospice Shoot at 9 am Saturday, October 12, at its range in Mode. Sponsorship funds will benefit Lincolnland Hospice, which provides care to people in 20 counties in east central and southern Illinois, regardless of their ability to pay. Lincolnland Hospice also provides comprehensive bereavement services to all community members. Read More

New Al-Anon Group Starting Nov. 6

A new support group for friends and families of alcoholics will begin Wednesday, November 6 and run each Wednesday thereafter at the First United Methodist Church in Sullivan.

The meetings will be held at 8 p.m. and are faith based.

Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) meetings are already held every Wednesday at 8 p.m. at the Presbyterian Church in Sullivan.

Annual Dinner to Feature Lincoln Presentation

The Moultrie County Historical and Genealogical Society dinner will be November 21 with speaker Guy Fraker, a Bloomington attorney and graduate of the University of Illinois.  Fraker is well-versed on Abraham Lincoln’s travels through the Eighth Judicial Circuit here in central Illinois and has published a book entitled “ Lincoln’s Ladder to the Presidency The Eighth Judicial Circuit”.  Read More
